Another update from Kawakami (this one is an interview today with Bob Myers):

Please get this deal done (even if I have to sideline my Lee jersey for a Love one).

correct me if im wrong but i dont think the warriors can do this trade until draft day if minnesota is insisting on swapping the 2014 pick with the warriors 2015 pick

Warriors cannot trade the '15 pick until after the '14 draft (Thursday). However, not sure if that's just a formality, meaning that Minny would pick for the Warriors and the deal gets "official" only after the draft (if the swap of draft picks was included).

Assume the Warriors are insisting on this year's pick if Minny wants to include Martin (and his additional THREE years) in the trade.

If Minnesota is really giving up the #13 pick, I don't know how the Ws can't do the trade.

The issue is that GSW will be over the cap if they get Martin and his three years and his $6.8M/$7.1M/$8.3M through 2016-17 (and assuming they resign Love to a max deal). Thought would be that Dubs want some compensation for that (either a swap of first round picks or just the Minny pick at #13).

At this point, who knows. My guess is that a deal gets done before the draft since the next two suitors for Love are offering mostly draft picks (Boston and Denver).

Hate to lose Klay, but I make the deal. Warriors would need to sign Love to an extension for this deal to make any sense.

My take is if the Warriors had a center, who was healthy and played more than 40 games, they would have went a lot farther than they did this year. Getting Love doesn't solve that problem. Kind of agree with poop, Love is like Lee only with an outside shot. I don't like the idea of giving up a 1st to go along with the players either, just think they may be overpaying.

Go Bears!

Yeah, even with this deal the key to next season again will be Bogut.

I would be shocked if the Wolves included a pick. That makes no sense. I think that was reported incorrectly from the start.

If you have faith in your organization, you do the deal without an extension. If nothing else, this saves you from giving Klay a max deal and keeps you flexible going forward.

I agree, Wolves would be really dumb to give up Love and their #13 pick in this year's draft, which is loaded. They should be trying to get an additional pick in this year's draft for Love.

W's just not willing to show their full hand at this point. Nothing wrong with that.

They know that Barnes/lee is not enough to get love. They also know it's imperative to unload lee because of his contract and he won't fit in the system that kerr will want to run.

I think this eventually gets done. Maybe w's convince wolves to add barrea and not Kmart (barrea presents a different set of problems for w's - I'd rather take on kmarts salary). But to get this done, the warriors will have to take on at least some of the wolves' trash, since the wolves are taking on lee. The w's understand that.

What absolutely can't happen is that the w's decide to include green in any deal. Considering his current contract, he's a much more valuable piece than Klay.

Altgough having curry/love/Klay for one year is enticing. But don't see how you can give max contracts to love and Klay the year after. That's why it just makes sense for Klay to be included in any deal.

However much I don't like lacob, his front office is top notch and very savvy (hiring the logo will do that). So I think they get this done. They are just posturing right now. Which is the smart thing to do.

This tweet reminded me of this thread.

I was a little off about Klay, but at least I didn't want to trade him for Love!

NBA thread, so…..

"After two decades of non-stop media attention, you'd be forgiven for developing LeBron James fatigue and taking "The King" for granted. But I'm begging you: Please don't.

By the numbers: Currently in his 19th NBA season, James is putting up almost identical numbers at age 37 as he was at age 27. It's utterly insane.

Age 27 (2011-12): 27.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 53.1% FG, 36.2% 3PT, 77.1% FT, 37.5 minutes

Age 37 (2021-22): 28.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 52.8% FG, 37.2% 3PT, 78.5% FT, 36.8 minutes

The big picture: James' longevity is perhaps best illustrated by his annual player efficiency rating (PER), a popular all-in-one statistic that measures per-minute productivity.

Outside of his rookie year, James' PER has been between 24.2 and 31.7 every season. He may have peaked at age 24 (31.7 PER), but his decline has been virtually non-existent.

James' career PER average is 27.4, which is the second-best mark ever behind Michael Jordan (27.9). His PER this season as one of the NBA's oldest players? 27.5.

Wild stat: James has had four seasons with at least 27.0 PER since turning 30. Only six players in NBA history have had more in their entire careers.

Coming up: James enters tonight's game against the Kings (10pm ET) having scored 25+ points in 11 straight games. He's also been starting at center in Anthony Davis' absence, and shining in that role." Axios
