Yes, I can nitpick. Ty was not a stud, for one. First of all, 5 of 9 from the line including a front end, is not studly. His play was extremely selfish for all but a couple occasions. The announcers commented on his teammates standing around while he does his thing, and I would say that speaks to not involving teammates. He only passed once when driving the lane, and only made 2 baskets on 13 drives, which includes missing 5+ floaters and making 1. The ball ended up on the ground on 3 of them, luckily rolling on the ground to a teammate and to himself once.
He made up for it with some great rebounding, defense, the one nice pass to Kravish and one to Singer, and 2 big threes. I actually expect more from him, however, and would grade this a B. SO many wasted possessions ruined his first half. If he's at least OK in the first half, the game is not close.
That being said, we clearly don't win without him and he had a great second half. But he has to be more efficient and for as much as he dribbled around and shot the ball in the first half, he should score more than 6. Perhaps if he found open shooters, maybe Mathews would not go 1-8. Our shooters need to be catching the ball with open shots, so if you drive into the lane and meet resistance, someone is probably open and can make that shot with more regularity than a defended floater.
