August 20th, to be exact, in between the A's and Mariners series when we were up to visit my in-laws. The record was set September 6th.

Might it have been another day? I note there was no off day there for the Orioles. In fact, they had no off days from July 24th until August 28th.

IIRC, it was a day game in Oakland the day before and a night game in Seattle that night. Saw them in the morning. It was only an hour from Seattle. They probably stayed there the whole series. Always possible they were just there for brunch as they have a great restaurant overlooking the falls.

That makes sense. Still, I'm not ruling out a twin/clone.

His wife was all over the news then, too. Impossible for both to be clones. But this is probably boring far to many people.

When I was in business school, my friends and I befriended a husband and wife professor couple. They were nice and we genuinely liked them, but we also liked the fact they had 4 season tickets at Cameron. They always gave us a couple of tickets a year. One my friends knew Cal Ripken's next door neighbor and got Cal to sign a ball inscribed to them in '95. My buddy gave them the ball during the Carolina game the following season and the husband gushed like a little kid.

Mays lived a couple of blocks from my cousins in the City and pretty much every kid in the neighborhood had his autograph. After Willie moved to Atherton, he joined a country club and the ninth tee was at at the end of our street. Every time he was playing, half the kids on our block would watch him tee off. He was always really nice. Willie's biography that came out a few years ago was extremely accurate in how kind Willie was/is to children.

Can't really blame Joe. There are so many trying to make a buck off their autographs.

OT, but does Lincecum live in Petaluma? One of my friends (who doesn't live in Sonoma County) is adamant that Timmy lives in Petaluma. Seems like an unusually long commute.

There was a lot of noise a year or so ago about him first buying an old home near downtown - I've been in the home and its beautiful with an enclosed driveway/courtyard for privacy - and then the other (more likely IMO) rumor was he was buying a property with acreage outside of town... old ranch - again the location and size lent itself to privacy. Never heard if he did/didn't. I should have followed up with some of my realtor friends. I'm not a Giants fan so that probably had something to do with it.

I'm not a Giants fan either but what I know of the guy makes me like him. Weird haircut, undersized, homemade delivery that his dad taught him with some unorthodox theories about pitching mechanics, caught smoking weed in his free time (or openly admits to it?). And unbeknownst to me until today, a Pinoy, an underrepresented ethnic group in MLB. Again, I don't follow the Giants, maybe he is a total prick, but on the outside he is an interesting character.

Anyway, wiki says he lives in Sausalito. I'm on a wikipedia kick this morning:

Lincecum is Filipino-American. His mother, Rebecca Asis, is the daughter of Filipino immigrants.[95] Lincecum's father, Chris Lincecum, worked at Boeing and Tim held out for a large signing bonus so his father could retire.[6] Chris was largely responsible for his son's interest in baseball at a young age, and taught Tim his unique and extravagant windup.

He has lived in Sausalito, California during baseball season. During off season, he lives in Seattle, Washington.[96] He has owned property in Paradise Valley, Arizona.[97] He has a French bulldog named Cy.[98]

Nice ... I knew some of his background regarding especially his background - Dad teaching him the delivery and his attending UW and so one. ... the bit about the dog's name is a bit in the weeds but whatever... wikipedia is going deeper than i thought. It could be that he was thinking of buying here and never did or the wiki info on that point could be stale ... I like Tim and was happy that they resigned him even though (until this year) he's struggled the past 2 years. I just like him and find his style kind of fun because he doesn't seem to be a jerk.. But I grew up an A's and Raiders fan so I got used to different I suppose...

So he probably lives on the Orinda Village side of the freeway. I recall someone on this board referred to the other side as "Brown Bag" Orinda. I liked that. Made me feel more proletariat.

It's only the Orinda Downs who apparently think they are hot stuff. But let's face it - those kids have one heck of a drive to middle and high school. No small pain!!! I always laughed at my buddies who lived by the OCC. Ain't no different on the Moraga side, just less attitude. And like Orinda needs any more of that... No, it's just fine being an Orinda proletariat on the brown bag side, as was said.

I was in the bathroom at the same time as Montana at SFO years ago. I didn't think that was a good time to ask for an autograph.

Yeah, like the time I was taking a **** next to mayor Willie Brown at the ritz in SF.

He's also an occ member.

The occ staff is on strict instruction that they are not allowed to ask for any autographs or pictures.

I don't think the same rule applies for Drew Bennett. No one there knows who the heck he is.

Athletic overachiever?
Good for him. Went to hs with my sis.
What's he doin' now?

I heard Steph's agent inquired if OCC was going to "comp" the membership. The club respectfully declined.

Ha, like the way Barry Bonds asked for free membership to one of my uncles high end athletic clubs, was it Pacific Club in redwood city? My uncle laughed at the ridiculousness of it.

I'll never approach a celebrity for an autograph in public, especially because once one person sees a celebrity sign, everyone wants to get in on the act.

I remember seeing Cal Ripkin and his wife at Snoqualmie Lodge a few weeks before he set the consecutive games record. He could see the recognition in my eyes when I figured out who he was and he kind of gave a little pleading expression to not blow his cover but I just smiled. I wasn't going to bother him.

When I saw Joe Montana at the Moraga Farmer's Market a little while after they moved to Lafayette, I said hi and welcomed him to the community but made sure to keep moving so he didn't have to worry about getting surrounded. I like the idea of famous people being comfortable being out in the community without being accosted.

Steph and his family visited our church in the last year. Unfortunately the kids couldn't stay away so I don't know if that scared him off. Carson Palmer's daughter was in our church's preschool when he was with the Raiders.

When I was a kid, Orinda was the place for Raiders coaches. At one point, we had three different assistant coaches kids at Miramonte between Lew Erber, Sam Boghosian and Charlie Sumner. Kinda had a little crush on Erber's daughter. She was a good sprinter on the track team. Sumner's son Colin was a good fb player, too.

Hardaway actually lived in Moraga in Sanders Ranch most of the time he was with the Warriors rather than Orinda and Barnett's lived in Orinda probably 40+ years now. I know Posey lived in Orinda. Not sure if he's there now or back in SF.

My dad used to have a number of professional athletes as clients so he often brought home autographs for me on his James McGill stationary. Still have them all. One of my prized possessions is a Adirondack bat he brought home from someone connected to Willie Mays that was a commemorative reproduction of the bat he used for home run number 600 with a plaque on the spot the ball connected. Have it in my den now.

What was the deal when Blackwood got a group of the Raiders together to play against the Miramonte basketball team after they hah had a good season? I went to that, but it was probably right during when you were in high school.

Not when I was there. I do remember going to a couple Raider-Niners hoops games. Those big hogs were sweaty messes.

Still have probably a dozen autographs from the games, including Ralph McGill lol.

This definitely happened, at least more than once. When I was in 4th/5th grade, my high school won the Nevada (South Tahoe played in Nevada despite being in California, for travel concerns) State Title and ended the season nationally ranked by USA Today. They were led by future Bear/Jayhawk Jerod Haase. That season they hosted a charity game against a group of Raiders, I think they were retired. Jerod and Co. won handily.
