Should be an interesting off season - hoping Rabb, Brown & coaches stay.

An awful few days for the Cal program.

everyone on the bench on schollie should be encourage to transfer. they can't even play, guard or shoot against a big west team! i'm not optimistic about roman, Coleman and Jolly.

cm need to step up his coach... why not f--- zone when you're short staff and can't afford to foul.

That's unfair. Those guys weren't good enough to beat out the players in front of them then got thrown in the fire under incredibly unusual circumstances.

My hat's off to Hawaii ... fans. What a turn out for them, flying all the way from the island.

Great run Bears. Thank you Ty you are a champ. Go tear it up in the NBA. Brown and Rabb another year will be good for you, but good luck with whatever you decide.

We will never have this much talent on a team again. CM better learn how to coach.

I'm a little mystified by all this talent talk. I don't see a lot of talent on this team. I see some good athletes but talented college basketball players - not so much. I don't see anyone on this team that will leave a mark in the NBA. Maybe Rabb if he bulks up.

This wasn't quite as bad as the UW Green Bay game, but a solid #2 as the worst NCAA tourney loss.

Rabb is definitely a legit basketball talent. Our best big since Leon Powe.

College teams aren't so deep that they can afford to lose two scorers.

You need the perspective that comes with time. After 50 years as a fan, you acclimate to this. It does not hurt as much when it is (half?) expected.

Well Go it has been 28 years for me, I have seen a lot of teams at Cal. All I can think is we pissed Al Pacino off and got that one dude to put a pig's curse on us like in devil's advocate. Sorry Jaylen doesn't deserve millions how can you let your college career end like this?!

Leon Powe would eat Rabb alive under the basket. But Rabb is only a freshman - things may change for him in the next couple years if he gets bigger.

Better watch it Bear fans. He got you some five star talent, like he did at Tennessee his first year after Stokes fell in his lap, but he totally failed to fill out the rest of the roster - no Point Guards and a bunch of similar players that "fit" his system. I think you're finding he is not a good game day coach but don't fall for the "great recruiter" bill of goods you have seen so far. Good luck.

true...but they been practicing with the starters for the entire season and have a few years of experience under their belts. if they can't even challenge or step to play when called on, then why waste a schollie? hawaii walk-on [smith?] schooled them.

Once a again rabb was fuckin shackled by CMs buffoonery on offense. Playing rabb on the weak side making rooks and Kingsley the strong side post offense. Notice how much better he looks when he actually got the fuckin ball.

28?? dude try 43 (cause I don't remember much before 7 yrs. old.) I have seen it ALL. If you can't remember USC choking against UCLA after they were handing out roses Joe Roth's Jr. Year you really are playing in the junior league of heartbreak and agony.

Recruit a center for God's sake, Kameron Rooks and Kingsley Okoroh are not capable period. Well maybe Vance Jackson was right it came down to UCONN and Cal and he said I want to play for a basketball school. Basically said Cal sucks.

Rabb definitely needs to get bigger.
Guys in the NBA fighting for a roster spot will eat him up in the NBA at his weight.

Right, but that's physical growth/development. As far as basketball "talent" goes -- skills with the ball, instincts for the game, athleticism, etc. -- Rabb is right there.

I was worried, but I really didn't think it was possible we would play this poorly...and we would be this unlucky with injury...or they would be that lucky (they had to have 5 total bricks that went in). Congrats to them, but this is humiliating. We waited for a team like this for 20 years and we don't win conference, don't win conference tournament, then are one and done with freak injuries and a sex scandal. This hurts my soul.

They weren't that good, honestly.

Not trying to rain on their parade (and their big man was good), but they were not impressive. A very decent but average NCAA team. A tough draw to be sure, but we should have beat them by 10 with or without Wallace. The Bird loss played in the Bears minds and when shots didn't fall it sort of spiraled. When we were down one we needed to attack and not slow it down. 2 bad passes undid the entire run.

You guys are both trippin i played with leon quite a bit rabb is more developed offensively right now than lee was even in the league not to mention lee is 6-7 in shoes. Rabb was option #4 on this offense and still managed to squeeze 12 a game out of very limited touches.

Absolutely. But the issue is that he needs at least 2 more years of growth. He is getting moved out of the post by a Big West guy who couldn't start for Mizzu. Tark ate him up because of size. Ditto Poetl. The real question for the NBA is do you have cap and roster room for such a project? Clearly some teams will but will they in the first 15? After that you do start to improve your financial pay off by coming back.

Brown? Who the heck knows. This last month hasn't been great for his draft prospects but he is a Frosh. And clearly getting charges gets so in his head.

Man sad way for this season to end...blown out by a Hawaii team that was missing its best player for most the game. Hard to avoid the negative emotions, but I think there was one trend that permeated the entire season...Bird was the only player that showed measurable development over the season. Guys like Bidas, Chauca, Domingo, Okoroh, and to an extent Rooks, never established consistent meaningful production. Raab is a what you see is what you get player, and he lived up to that standard. Brown clearly needed a system that gave him clear direction as a player.....decision making is his #1 weakness...I don't know how he develops instincts, perhaps a simple function of more playing time. I remember the jump that Wallace made between Freshman and Sophomore season, so we know it's possible.

My #1 concern going into next season is our offensive coaching philosophy. We showed zero improvement after getting destroyed by zone teams early in the season. It came back to bite us today on a number of key possessions when we were within 6. Perhaps the firing is a blessing in disguise, we need an assistant with a strong offensive philosophy. Defense and superior athleticism isn't enough to make real noise at the college level.

Sometimes it takes so much energy to keep catching up and when you finally do you have to take advantage of it. If ya don't get over the hump you see it so many times where a team just fades. When we were only down by one Rooks HAD to make those free throws and give us a lead, but he missed. We completely faded after that.

I can't help that I am only 36 man. Fine though I was at the coliseum when Aaron Rodgers took Cal to the 9, pass goes through Mcarthur's hands and Makonnen slips. I was at the holiday bowl against texas tech, misery. I was at the Utah game in Vegas but yes I realize that something always goes wrong with these programs. Yet i can't root for anyone else as I love my mom and Cal too much I will always be a Golden Bear. I just feel beaten down again. What a disapointment.

Senior PG that is a career leader in several categories, experienced good wings, Rabb and Brown, size with the two 7 footers. And that doesn't count Singer, Dominguez and Boute, who were all well regarded recruits. 3 people on the roster were McD All Americans, I believe. True, they all have individual flaws but everyone has flaws. This is the type of roster that every school in the country would be happy with. This should have been a 5 loss type team that made a very deep run in the tourney.
