28?? dude try 43 (cause I don't remember much before 7 yrs. old.) I have seen it ALL. If you can't remember USC choking against UCLA after they were handing out roses Joe Roth's Jr. Year you really are playing in the junior league of heartbreak and agony.

SCT, you and I are from the same era, more or less. My first game was at age 8, with Bob Presley at center for Cal. Still suffering, 48 years later. Perspective, perspective, perspective.

Senior PG that is a career leader in several categories, experienced good wings, Rabb and Brown, size with the two 7 footers. And that doesn't count Singer, Dominguez and Boute, who were all well regarded recruits. 3 people on the roster were McD All Americans, I believe. True, they all have individual flaws but everyone has flaws. This is the type of roster that every school in the country would be happy with. This should have been a 5 loss type team that made a very deep run in the tourney.

And 2 of those key cogs didn't play and another got into a shooting slump. **** happens.

I can't help that I am only 36 man. Fine though I was at the coliseum when Aaron Rodgers took Cal to the 9, pass goes through Mcarthur's hands and Makonnen slips. I was at the holiday bowl against texas tech, misery. I was at the Utah game in Vegas but yes I realize that something always goes wrong with these programs. Yet i can't root for anyone else as I love my mom and Cal too much I will always be a Golden Bear. I just feel beaten down again. What a disapointment.

SCT and I both feel your pain. I'm now considering convincing my 2-year-old to attend college elsewhere, so that the pain doesn't continue into the next generation. By Labor Day (football season) I'm sure I'll feel better.

We agree about the game today. I was responding to the question about overall team talent.

I am still trying to figure out what the hell happened?! The elation of being a 4 seed to Yanni being fired for sexual harrassment to Ty Wallace breaking his hand on a shirt somehow, which in itself is what 1 in 100? To Jabari saying he can't play because of back spasms. Are you *****n shitt**g me?! There really is no mercy!

I think Taurean Prince of Baylor can answer that for you.
Jim Rome has some thoughts, too.

I hate Jim Rome, he was loving it when Cal lost to Wisc Green-Bay. Where are you Jim Everett?

You still need players who can put the ball in the hoop, and except for Mathews and Bird we have NO shooters. In todays game you have to have a PT guard who can shoot, and preferably the three. Maybe next year, but we have we heard that before. Maybe it is best for Brown to go to the NBA, as this College pressure might be too much.

Football season? The Bears are supposed to be awful with a new QB,I am sure he is no Goff. Plus not one 4 star or 5 star recruit unless different sites ranked 1 or 2 higher. I can just see Mccaffery dodging our defenders like the plague why he scores 8 touchdowns. I think this was our chance for glory and it has been demolished.

It was Denzel Valentine's gapped teeth, if he got braces Michigan St wins the national championship.

Quote of the day nod may go to Baylor's Taurean Prince after his team's loss to Yale.

A reporter asked: How did Yale out-rebound Baylor?

Prince's response: "Um, you go up and grab the ball off the rim when it comes off, and then you grab it with two hands, and you come down with it, and that's considered a rebound. So they got more of those than we did."

I am just responding to what I read going4roses, don't take it personal. Cal has the #40 recruiting class, there have been negative reports on Cal's new QB that he isn't ready for the pac-12. Mccaffery will be the heisman trophy favorite, will he not? Can we beat Stanfurd or USC finally?

Disagree here. I thought our Bigs (K2) absolutely improved over the course of the year.

Agree with "True Blue", although Rooks was better but his lack of mobility, and shooting skill will always be a limit. Lets face it Okoroh is not going to give you much. I have noted from the get go that I never understood the offensive philosophy of this team. Whatever they were running was so unimaginative and lacked enough movement to ever be effective. Having no real point guard was the downfall with two freshman bigs. Defenses took them out of most games. My feel is the CM was known as a hard nose defensive coach, and a good recruiter. Now we hear that the assistant who was fired was instrumental in recruiting Rabb and Brown, so go figure. CM needs a chance to build a program, but he must accept that he needs help in setting up a modern day offense and hire someone who is given the authority to do so. However with such a strong a personality as he has, don't count on it. It does not seem the AD (Williams) , is the type to force the issue. I also think with Brown and all the hype around his coming to Cal, he buy addition limited some of the other from developing the mindset to be aggressive, and develop their own game. (Singer,Domingo Bidas). This deferral to the "Man" hurt both the team and Brown, who could not handle the spotlight. This lack of bench production was costly when we had games like today with two guys out.
It was good to see Mathews sort of take charge, and with a Freshman point next year he or someone must become the leader. Don't see Bird or Rabb if he comes back assuming that role.
Well there is always next year as we have been saying far too often, but you just hope CM learns as he has to do a better job next year. Go Bears!!

Certainly don't mean to disparage our guys.....Rook's body transformation alone has been impressive. All I am saying is that neither guy is ever going to be at a skill level of say an Omar Samhan who absolutely destroyed the tournament a few years back....I can think of a few games that Rooks had some key defensive games his freshman year, and of course Okoroh's game against Cuse two years ago. Maybe we fix the scheme and one of them emerges to be a reliable 10 point guy.

I really hope that Rabb comes back. He never was able to rely on his midrange game this season like Kravish had two years ago. Rabb has a really flat shot, which works well when utilizing the backboard, but I really think he needs to learn to face up at the 18-20 foot range and be a consistent threat as a shooter (think Ryan Anderson), and a threat to drive face up and dish. When Kravish had that shot working he was deadly at times, which really opened things up for Wallace, Cobbs, and some of the lower level players. Monty was a genius at spreading the floor using his 4 and I think the same concept could be used with this group of players. Rabb cleaning up the junk was at times out best offense, so it will be nice next year to have a guy like Roman take some of that stress off of Rabb.

It will be hard for Rabb to become more of a stretch 4 though if Jaylen stays, because without Jaylen improving his handling and midrange I don't think we can rely on him at the 3 and stealing minutes from the shooting we desperately need from Bird and Matthews.
