Damn.

Add Tyson Jolly to the list of Kennedy Winston (Alabama) and Garrett Sim (Oregon) of recruits who signed LOIs with Cal but who immediately wound up at other schools, anyway. The list is far longer for Cal recruits who verbally committed to Cal but eventually backed out: Derek Burditt, Justin Davis, De'End Parker, Julian Sensley, Ahmaad Rohrie, Drew Viney, etc., etc.
Who was the Hawaii kid? Oh, Julian sensley. Just as I recalled, I saw you have him.

Who is the biggest miss among these?

Sensley didn't really back out though. He just couldn't qualify.

The only one that hurt was Winston.

Jolly was originally a 2015 recruit.
We had 2 2016 spots (Wallace and unfilled) plus 2 more potential NBA openings.
Until Coleman then, very recently, we were 0-fer 2016.

Why?
Who did he miss on?
Does he shoot for the starts and settle after he misses? Why so many spring signees? Zero for 2 falls.

Im sick of Zjolly. First he doesnt qualify He wears cal gear all year. Now he doesnt want to honor his commitment. Dont let the door hit you on the way out.

We are better off without him.

pure speculation:
It's *possible* he didn't qualify again.
Using the YH situation could have given him the out he needed to walk away with head held high.
I mean, if he just isn't a top student, how does it come off if he doesn't go to Cal after wearing the gear all year long? What does he tell his friends and family? "sorry, even after a year at prep school, I still could not get in".

Suggest we cut the speculation. Didn't work out. Who knows why. Time to move on.

Agreed.
I just mentioned it to cut the scorn people may post about his not coming.
For, he may deserve sympathy instead of scorn...

I'm guessing Martin let him out because he was concerned that Jolly really now doesn't want to play with him, and would be a potentially disruptive influence. I don't think it affects future recruiting one way or the other, but it does raise a Tosh-like concern about the relative influence of Martin and Huffnagel on the strength of our classes. If the key to our recruiting was Huffnagel, that's a basketball problem, even though from an ethical standpoint, he had to go, based on what I read in the report on his behavior.

I really don't think YH was the key to our recruiting, I think CM would have got Rabb without YH and the biggest recruiter of Jaylen was Rabb. My concern with CM is not his ability to recruit but rather his ability to evaluate talent, he's had some misses there.

I agree! Screw Jolly. We're better off without him, if he's dumb enough to back out of his commitment to the best school he'll ever come close to.

Honesty is the best policy and eliminates speculation.

Tyson Jolly is a 3 star recruit with average skill. You guys need to calm down.
