Why not? It's not like they have to go to class. I wouldn't call that a loophole in the rules though. It is the rule.

I'd love to see the walkons refuse to declare.

The University/academic side should be ashamed. There's no pretense at all that these are supposed to be students.

All the while ... never missing any classes ....

That is Coach Calipari's revolving door recruiting pitch...plus a written certificate of appreciation from UK.

Wouldn't it be funny if some forgot to withdraw their names and then weren't eligible next year?

The whole team declared but not all will be going. They just want evaluations. That said, it would be pretty funny if the whole team left at once. BTW, Kentucky needs to up their game and match their OAD status with some strippers/hookers.

I have not been a fan of Calipari going back to his UMASS days. Never met him, but not my type of guy. I won't knock his wins and losses and I think he's a good fit for the madness that is UK basketball (unlike Tubby Smith).

However, I like this latest stunt. Seems like he's sort of mocking the NBA draft/OAD rules and mechanisms. Good for him.

From what I understand, submitting your name for the draft DOES NOT mean that you will get invited to the combine/evals. I'm pretty sure there is a limited number of spots and the teams get some say in who is invited.

Except that they are majoring in basketball and so the evaluation IS class!

I would hope not....they are all internet classes and "tutored" classes

Calipari made that statement as a marketing ploy to attract more one and dones. He of course overlooked the 2 players who are not old enough to enter the draft.
