So far, I have heard that Cal has reached out to at least two that I know about:

1.Grant Mullins out of Columbia, guard
2. Dylan Osetkowski out of Tulane, power forward

Does anyone know of any others?
Any foreign players?

Any idea when we will find out about the plans of our freshmen?

I heard Columbia won the CBI/CTI tournament, first Ivy to win a post season tournament since 1975.
Why would we want a guard, though?

Sam/Jabari/Jordan/Don - is that enough?

As for Ivan/Jaylen - you should expect that they declare no matter what! The rules have opened it up so that you can get an evaluation multiple years - thus I don't know why EVERY basketball player in America doesn't declare by April 24. Yet, you will apparently have to wait until June 13, just 10 days before the draft.

April 24 -- NBA Early Entry Eligibility Deadline (11:59 p.m. ET)
May 11-15 -- NBA Draft Combine 2016 (Chicago)
June 13 -- NBA Draft Early Entry Entrant Withdrawal Deadline (5:00 p.m. ET)
June 23 -- NBA Draft 2016

I know. I should not hold my breath on either of the guys, but it would be nice if they announced that they're returning sometime in the next few weeks. As for grad transfers- nothing can happen until Jaylen and Ivan make a move. Sucks. Unless they declare and say they aren't coming back, we could easily miss on some good players in the transfer market.

A PF would be helpful for one season.

Tom, Cal really needs another point guard. As we saw in the tournament, there's no way Cal is winning jack with a combo of Singer and Chauca, and Don could use a year where his minutes are limited to allow him to adapt to the D1 game.

If Mullins comes to Cal, there's a good chance he starts ahead of Singer. At worse, he's Singer's backup, though I doubt that. At this point he does every thing better than Singer - passing, shooting, ball handling - and that's more of a compliment to Mullins than it is a knock on Singer.

And even if he never plays a minute at pg, because he's also good off the ball, Mullins brings something arguably even more valuable lacking on this Cal team - a 3rd 3 point shooter to go with Bird and Mathews. We all hoped Domingo would bring that, but he hasn't and I doubt he ever will based on the kid's makeup.

If he wants to come to Cal, take him asap. There's a reason Syracuse and Mich are hotly after him. The more I think about adding Mullins to this roster, the more I get excited about pairing him with the returners (assuming Rabb/Brown return). He would fit so nicely.

Perhaps such is the price of playing in the OAD market.
I'll accept that trade!
I just hope that CM lands the next wave of great recruits. Had 2 spots for 2016, has filled 1 so far. Has more for 2017. Work to be done.

Mullins would be a solid addition to the guard rotation.

He played well for Canada at a development tournament a couple summers ago and did not look out of place alongside better known college players such as Kevin Pangos, Dwight Powell, Kyle Wiltjer, and Melvin Ejim.

That being said, I think Michigan and Syracuse would be favorites for geographic reasons. Mullins is from southern Ontario, and he and his three siblings each stayed close to home for their college careers.

We need a POINT guard.

Michigan is maxed out on scholarship next season.

Actually, don't we have one spot available even if Brown and Rabb return, assuming Jolly doesn't wind up re-committing? We have two open spots (Wallace and Glapion), and only Coleman coming in, correct?
parentswerebears

Yes. That is correct. For whatever reason, I did not factor that in.

This is a 2017 recruit, essentially. Hasn't CM had enough time to recruit the field of 2017 HS graduates without having to fill a void by spending a scholarship on a guy to sit on the bench? I mean, the # of guard names that is being thrown about now.... gee.
This does nothing for next year, a need that has been pointed out by Watermelon.

Don't know what to tell you if we're at the point where we're considering carrying 4 point guards on the roster.

Mullins would be for 2016/17 whereas Whitt would be for 2017/18 and beyond.

Michigan has Derrick Walton returning and a 4* PG (Xavier Simpson) coming in.

Syracuse seems to have the best shot. They've started Gbinije, who's been a wing his entire career, at PG, and Kaleb Joseph has been in the doghouse and could transfer.

# 1 need is a power forward. If Rabb leaves the top 2 needs are at power forward.

+1 Cal needs a PF before it needs a PG, because; a) Cal will have 3 PGs on roster and, b) Besides Rabb, Cal has zero 4s, and two big 5s who can't cover 4s.

+1. If you watch college you will see MANY point guards (who can avoid foul trouble) play 30+ minutes. It isn't ideal but it can be done. Hawaii was an aberration compounded not just by Ty but really a lot more by Bird not being able to go..

Anybody know what the +'s and -s were for when KR and KO were on the court at the same time? As limited as their offense was I'd think their defense would have made other teams miss a lot. I think we need another BIG but not necessarily a PF. I think KR is a C and KO is a PF. I'd like to see them both on the court together. While one bodies the ball handler the other can swat it out of the gym

I disagree; KO has no offense outside of the block, and can't cover 4's out to 15-18 feet, which he'd have to do.

I hope he can ball...does he play bigger than his size? Hopefully the year off doesn't hurt. Domingo was rusty this year but I think he basically was out two seasons.

Osetkowski isn't a grad student. Transferred to Texas and will have two years left after a sitting out a transfer season.

Per Jeff Borzello twitter, Cal has shown interest in Harvard Grad transfer Patrick Steeves, rare grad transfer with 2 years of eligibility.

Will graduate in three years. Won't have to sit out a year since he'll be in grad school. Even with chronic grade inflation at Harvard, graduating in three years with an alleged 3.7 is not too shabby.

He was at Harvard for four seasons.
He missed 12/13 because of a foot injury and he missed 13/14 and 14/15 due to an ACL injury. 15-16 was his senior year, but the first year he played.

Another note on Steeves; he played against Domingo at the 2012 FIBA U17s.

Thanks for the clarification. No current rides open, but Mullins has visited. Steeves and Canyon Barry may also be possibilities. Does appear all three have the grades.
