He isn't. He has a PR guy. He leaves now and he can say there was never a final determination but he had to leave because of a toxic atmosphere without acknowledging any blame for the toxicity.

That's true. Preempt the termination and not go through this appeal because it won't lead to any money anyway. A civil suit against UC for abuse of process, and some sort of bad faith tort may be the way to go for him. This is not the end by a long shot.

I think he can say to potential employers that the "toxic" situation was Cal's harassment scandal that was sure to result in his being railroaded to appease the public--case in point being the diving coach who got docked $450 after hundreds of alleged harassing comments, offering the complainant $300 for oral sex and apparently climbing up on the complainant...and yet Huf gets fired for flirting with a reporter. I also suspect that there were indications that the Skelly Hearing was not going to go well for Huf--even after the alleged 900 texts--so better to resign and be the victim than have an official finding rejecting his full defense and potentially having the 900 texts released as well.

Tend to believe that Yanni has another job lined up or Cal cut him a fat check already. Can't imagine they would pay him off without eliminating any future litigation possibilities.
Diving case makes no sense to me. Get that it's a low profile sport, but diving is a chronic weakness (cost Durden a title in 2010) and a $450 fine is a wrist slap. Durden and McKeever are legacy coaches destined for the HOF, but still don't think you brush something under the carpet to appease then while hanging Cuonzo out to dry.

I thought the diving coach incident happened at another school in the Big-12? - not at Cal.

If he can land another coaching job somewhere he'd be better off just dropping it. And I think he has a better chance of getting employed if this is behind him with no resolution. But that's just my opinion. I wouldn't take that case on a contingency, I know that. UC has a lot of protection and she's probably judgment-proof.

I have no clue why Mulzet is still coach, but I surely hope his contract will not be renewed when it is up.

This is the typical issue that colleges are finding with these cases. In this situation, the coach said it never happened, so there was the classic she said/he said with really no supporting evidence that I could see in the redacted report (I need a life). So my guess is Cal compromised, and found him guilty, but provided a light penalty.
This is not the Yanni case where there is obvious sexual conduct, and admissions and text messages, but a claim by the coach that everything was permissive due to the nature of the relationship (this is a general summary, but you the difference).

I read why he was docked 5% pay, he harassed and goated a student-athlete by saying he'd pay $300 for oral sex from him. I'm sure it was just good old fashioned Olympic motivational bullying but that seems like a fire-able offense.

Wasn't an athlete, but another assistant coach/staffer.
