what went into decision making process?
good question.... a lot of things... i just wanted to get all the feedback I could... wanted to make sure I was informed, that I was ready and confident in my decision.

what has Cal experience been like?
been great, terrific. The people who are here come to change the world. I will take things with me the rest of my life. He then asks his professors to stand up and they did and received wide applause.

Q for CM: what things does he need to work on?

CM: 19 year old, has potential to be first in draft, has that type of talent. Biggest strength is willingness to learn and grow. He has size and skill to be great. Willingness to listen.

Q: Will your ability translate better to the NBA?

I don't know, just looking forward to getting out there with whatever team I can to grow...

I have a weird way of getting advice from teammates - told about how to select between two boxes of cereal, which would be healthiest.

Jeff Faraudo's article says "sources" indicate he may be leaning on returning.

"Fellow Cal freshman Ivan Rabb of Oakland has not made an announcement, but sources indicate the 6-10 power forward may opt to return to school."

A classy move to invite his professors to the press conference. The fact that they showed up indicates that he took his studies seriously. I wish him good luck in the NBA, and hope he returns to finish his degree, and to contribute in some way to the community.

That said, one-and-dones are still an issue for me with the program. It will be interesting to see how the 16-17 team performs if Rabb comes back. To some extent, having both Brown and Rabb made it tougher, it seems to me, to clarify everyone's role, and therefore it took the team longer to jell. They were on a roll going into the tournament, and it's unfortunate that the Wallace and Bird injuries derailed that.

I guess my inherent feeling is to take a one-year player primarily where it's a piece that's difficult to get or develop any other way, which is the case often with post players. If you're going to have one-and-dones that are wings or points, it almost seems to me that you have to then have an overwhelming talent advantage, so that you can just roll the ball out and win with athleticism. I'm just thinking aloud here.

I guess it was fun while it lasted. Can't help to think what could have been, though.....

This video is a great recruiting tool. Hopefully, prospects that have academic ambition will take note. His love and appreciation for Cal is apparent and he expresses it eloquently. He has a bright, bright future.
