Not a surprise at all. Could have predicted this months ago.

His AAU coach says he was not going to get admitted academically which may or may be the fulsome truth. Regardless, not sure it was a good basketball fit. Wish Alec the best of luck!

I hope the coaches quit recruiting academically marginal players..it really is an advantage in a way....we don't have to waste a lot of resources on kids who won't be admitted or are going to have a very hard time being admitted....that should allow more time to be spent on academically suitable athletes....it will always be true that the pool of players that we recruit will be considerably smaller than for almost any other institution...we need to turn that fact into a positive instead of spending time trying to get a marginal player admitted...it doesn't do the player any good either....JMHO....

Academics may have something to do with it, but I'm pretty sure him not developing as hoped and/or us being in the running for bigger fish is the main, unsaid reason. The early offer was peculiar to me in the first place.

That's my thinking as well. After all, he was recruited over. I think we all expected this after JDH committed.

I would hope our coaches were a bit lax in recruiting a player who may not qualify academically instead of recruiting a player who may not be good enough to help on the court.....I would hope they can evaluate basketball abilities better than academic abilities....

I think that is much closer to the truth
