I'm disappointed that there wasn't a Cal Student section. That being said, I'll be there in Blue and Gold sitting at center court cheering on our Bears!

Question, I found out that UC Davis (earlier game at G1C vs Sac State) not only had a prime Student & Alumni seating section, but also was having a before game gathering at a local watering hole.

Does anyone know of such a get together for Cal fans?

BTW, if anyone has any questions about G1C, just ask. I've been there several times and know the layout well.

george, that's awesome you will be creating energy for the guys tomorrow in this key battle, from your perspective what does cal need to do to increase student attendance on gamedays?

Tough to say. We drive down from Sacramento to Berkeley, and hour and a half drive, fighting rush hour traffic and not arriving back home until after midnight at times. I wish we could see Haas packed with students at all the home games, but we usually don't. About as disappointing as not seeing enough students at CMS to fill up the card section.

Anyone know why this game is being played in Sac? And is it where sac state plays? Because I've been to that gym and it's smaller than a high school gym.

Hum. The Golden 1 center is brand new and it's where the Sacramento Kings play so.....

I think with 100 tickets, a 40/60 female to male student ratio, 2 buses, 4 kegs, 50 pizzas, a small horn group, 100 fight song pamphlets, a video of Cal's greatest sports moments running continuously on-board the bus, and bong with accoutrements, you will be successful.

It was an opportunity to showcase the new Golden 1 Center before the NCAA's this coming spring using Northern CA teams. Trust me, SFBear2012, this is no small college gym.

I've only heard good things about the new arena.

Anyone know if kj is making an aporeance?

Anyone know if we are still claiming him?

Maybe we could replace his number in the rafters with Jorge

Ha, no.

Since is venue is off-site, like Levi's Stadium was for the Cal v Oregon football game a couple of years ago...

You might like the craft beers and food being offered at the Golden 1 Center.

I think the Sacramento Grid Club may be having a pregame Cal Event at a nearby watering hole. We are getting in too late for that.

p.s. Shocky you going to be there too?

Ha, I don't watch much pros so wasn't familiar. Sounds like a cool experience though.

Grid Club? Any more info about pregame get togethers would really be appreciated. I can't find anything on their FB page.

Nothing was mentioned at our last meeting about a pre-game get together but I think many of us would be up for suggestions??

Thanks, egbear82. Our plan right now is to hit Old Sacramento, eat at Willie's, then arrive around half-time of the Sac State v UC Davis game. Less of a crowd getting in the arena. Already have our reserved parking.

Claiming the husband of the incoming Secretary of Education?

He'll probably show up for a photo op. That's his style. Good time to get a beer.

It sounds like UCD did a better job of preparing for this. They have a ticket order code that gives them a good discount on tickets too. It may be because they are closer to Sac, but I do not think Sac State is as well organized.

I did receive an invitation to attend a Cal sponsored tip-off event prior to our game in Sacramento. It may be because I am a season ticket holder for premium bench seats. I will be going to that and the game.

I am not happy with Golden 1. 3 weeks after I ordered my tickets during the early access period, I received an email saying my seats were not available and given worse seats. Golden 1 does not have a system to address customer complaints.

Try hitting up the Customer Service window near Sec 110.

Called the ticket office to see about tickets for my friend and his son and they're closed. Why? It's not a holiday. Also no link on calbears.com. SDSU's not selling them. So apparently buying them directly from the arena's the only option. Even on stubhub, prices start at $64. $64? I don't think so.

It says $19 but when you select it, it's actually $27, which becomes $40 with taxes and fees, $80 for two.

The pizza stand had signs with photos of pizza that looked like a really good personal pan pizzas that turned out to be a dried out, crusty single slice of pizza worse than Domino's for nine bucks. More like a slice that's been under the heat lamp in 7-11 for a few hours.

Ridiculous.

Beautiful arena. You walk off the street into a light open cavern.

Game sucked.

Great venue.
MoragaBear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Great venue, bad, overly-expensive pizza.

Apparently much of the cost of the arena is being paid for by a massive ticket surcharge. It's $12, even at the box office. So my friend's $27 ticket was almost $80 for two at the box office last night.

Never seen that before at any arena in the country.

MB you and I had the exact same pizza experience. Ordered what on the screen looked like a decent mini-pizza, then I receive a slice of cardboard. The one item that was good were the tacos. The toppings bar with salsa and guacamole dispensers is a pretty good idea. Beer selection was serviceable.

Glad I went, but expected a much better performance from the team. They did not make it easy to trash talk the SDSU fans around me.

Did anyone else attend the tip-off event at Fat City? It was hosted by the athletic dept and Mike Williams was there as well as several members of the Sac Grid Club. The band, Oski, and cheerleaders were there briefly too. I enjoyed it, but I left early to see the second half of the UCD - Sac game. The box office did a great job of addressing my complaint about the seats Ticketmaster switched me to. The boxoffice put me in row AAA. I wish our team would done better in the first half. I think they held their own in the second half.

They boo'd incessantly on every call against them, even when the massive replay board clearly showed it was a foul.

And what's with that stupid "Beeewwwww!!!!" sound they keep making?

I think it's from a movie. It is stupid, but effectively distracting.

Went to the game in Las Vegas last year
SDSU fans reminded me the Fresneck football fans.
