Had to leave the house for the 2nd half. Seems like we did try to claw our way back a little and Rabb did eventually get going. In some ways this loss is excusable with Rabb's 1st game back and Mullins way off tonight. I think Moore sat out a little too long in the first half tonight, so that the game got out of hand.

I also would not like to play SDSU for a long long time, or any of the Cal States for that matter, in basketball or football.

I was at the game and was shocked at how many SDSU fans were there! Are they home for Thanksgiving break? I can't fathom that so many would fly down for this game?
Anyway the first half was just a butt-ugly half for us but as Rabb started rounding into form and Moore decided to be more in charge we looked better.. As posters said last year, college basketball is a marathon, not a sprint, and I think the team will look a lot better a month or so from now. Moore is going to make some freshman mistakes but is going to be special.

Singer and Mullins, combined 3 for 17 for 9 points. Hard to win a game with that kind of production.

Singer after all this should be the second guard off the bench, He has shown no improvement in taking over a game, he can drive but can't finish, a good play he will follow with two bad ones. I noticed he is dropping the ball down the side before his shot now which is making him miss his foul shots. Mullin can do more off the dribble but could us better screens.so they double Rabb, play tight on Moore and there is nothing left to beat you. Bird must come back soon,

We need a healthy Bird to go where we want to go
Not having a second PF is also hurting us. I was hoping roman could be that guy defensively but considering he didn't play I guess he's not going to help much in that role this year

SDSU has neutered this offense all by simply doubling Rabb. We have gotta have cutters to the basket on the post entry.

This is frustrating. So we get doubled on our NBA prospect and it works. We don't double an NBA prospect like Poetl last year, and he makes us pay every other time down.

Significantly improved free throw shooting is something that rarely happens at this level (and above). As someone here said years ago, if you want to improve your team's free throw shooting, recruit better shooters. Expecting him to get better will only leave you frustrated.

Bingo! It was Monty who said it a few years ago in an interview. I would say there might be an exception to free throw improvement for a big man who may not have grown up playing the game. So maybe Okoroh could shows improvement percentage wise (maybe getting to 65%).

Coleman has lots to work on but he had 6 in the first half when the rest of the team couldn't buy a bucket so I wouldn't go that far.

He's done more early on than some of the guys on the roster have in multiple seasons. He just needs to learn to play more under control.

He has a back injury...there's no 'sucking it up' when you can't bend over, or barely stand. I've dealt with major back issues..I can tell you...other than preventative measures, there's not much you can do other than possibly cortizone shots, but I don't even know what kind of injury he's dealing with and neither do you.

Agree completely. Disk problems that cause the spasms are incredibly painful. You calling him soft says a lot more about your ignorance then his toughness.

Disagree completely. I had concerns he'd be a wasted scholarship, but he passes the eye test physically and he played great defense in the second half.

Yes he looks like a player (but so does Domingo). He just happens to be on the Auto-bahn when he just needs to be on Highway 13.

This game was just a bad match-up for us....they were big and athletic both on the perimeter and underneath . tough night for our bigs and tough night shooting on the perimeter....

I also think it was a bad night for us. Lots of mistakes and sub par performances by the bears, but almost all of them fixable in a pretty short time frame. IMHO, a lot of the defensive and offensive gaffs were characteristic of a team with lots of new roles and parts. Compared to end of last season, we had ONE starter, Rooks, who was not the focus last year. Also lots of injuries.

Ok enough pumping. Frustrated and expecting a little more from our senior players (I'm talking to to you - Singer, Domingo and even RMB). They have all been given many, many chances to step up and simply aren't doing so on a CONSISTENT basis. I'm not talking about Rooks, who is not a dominant player; so I'm OK with what he brings and Jabari needs to get and stay healthy.

I don't think SDSU had more fans at the game. Looking around it appeared about even perhaps even a few more Cal fans. The problem was Cal fell behind pretty early and trailed by double digits most of the game. Hard for the Cal crowd to get into it under those circumstances.

At last year's loss to SDSU at Vegas, we Cal fans were much louder when we forged out to a comfortable lead. The Aztec fans took over when they overtook us and won going away. It changed from consoling the quiet SDSU fans sitting around me to getting razzed and eating humble pie as Cal totally collapsed. Bad memories.

I couldn't help but think about the Seinfeld episode when Puddy face-painted himself as the devil....Felipe, who tied for the dance contest award Monday, had his Aztec face paint on and I almost lost it laughing....

Another reason could be that half of the students enrolled at San Diego State yearly are from NorCal. We have many fans living up there that schooled on Montezuma Mesa.

Moraga mentioned that we tried going zone and got smoked. Anyone know what we lack as a team that prevents us from running a successful zone?

I'll venture a guess: experience running said zone.
