I know how Cal can get a coach who is a really good recruiter. Pony up a couple more million in salary for the head coach, lower admission standards for basketball players and upgrade facilities. Not that hard.

Or hire an assistant coach whose sons are ballers and get them commited to the school who hired their dad.

I liked what I saw in Roman Davis in the limited time he was in. He looks like he knows what to do around the rim.

For the first time in the Cuonzo era I think Cal played scared. The Bears were defeated even before the opening tip. They played scared. They played with no passion. Oregon's bigs got to the rim at will and Oregon's 3-point shooters constantly got open for 3's. If Cal had lost by 23 and played really hard, I'd have no issue but it looked resigned to losing. And it wouldn't hurt occasionally if Cuonzo fought for his players on questionable calls instead of sitting there talking to his assistants. He looked disinterested late in the first half. This loss is on him.

Oregon players who actually played offense and defense on the court beg to differ with you.

Agree that we were not focused and mentally prepared. Deer and headlights.

This game reminded me of the one at Missou (Coach Frank "Infractions-boy" Haith) several years ago (2012 ?) with Coach Monte, Jorge and crew.

This game was very hard for me to watch, and the players were not enjoying it. Rabb was having a tough night in the middle, but kept urging the team to stay with it and play on. Coach Martin seemed clueless about what to do.

Cheers to Bird, Coleman and Rabb. King looked slow but made several excellent moves.

The Bears were well scouted, and Coach Altman had the Ducks mentally prepared. They were having a great time. As the game wore on they started playing a W's style of game.

Too bad about Brooks injury. I hope it's not season ending.

It is clear after a couple of years, that this staff has their way to play, and has little ability to adjust . CM tried to zone up but it is not his thing, and they do not practice it much. IT SHOWED. I also have noticed that Cunzo rarely stands up for his team when there is a bad call or when his team has stalled. I have felt for sometime he needs a strong assistant coach who has the authority to mix up the offense. He seems easy to coach against, although I also know he has a very limited roster.

Rare stand ups ~~~ challenging calls ~~~ etc.

Doesn't Coach M have back issues?

Cuonzo didn't even come out for the radio post game show so I'm sure he was none too happy about the effort tonight and let his players know that.

Probably mumbled to them that it's just basketball.
