I spent a morning with Bob back in November doing this interview. He is truly a Cal treasure, link to an incredible time in Cal basketball history.
I was mesmerized listening to him tell stories about Pete Newell, Pappy Waldorf, Joe Kapp, John Wooden, and of course the 1959 Final Four when Bob guarded the Big O and Jerry West back-to-back nights. We spent over ten minutes on the Big O alone. Bob's memory is phenomenal.
The length of this interview is 90 minutes - counterintuitively too long in every sense. But I so enjoyed my time with him, and he is so cool to listen to, we decided to keep it "as is."
