The other Brown (Jaylen) proved that a one-and-done talent, as fun as that is, doesn't lead to a high level of sustained program success. You have to land a bunch of recruits. Over and over. And be good at player management and game day tactics.

I don't know that anyone in this staff has the tactics down.
You can’t spell NCAA without N-C-A-A.

Cuonzo couldn't coach them up so he utilized about 50% of Jaylen's and Ivan's talent.

True, one year, however great an individual performance, doesn't make a program. I don't see how that's relevant. The alternative is to pass on elite talent, and for what?

If you have an elite season or two -- you can build the start of a program based on an identity, culture. When other players see elite players choosing a program often enough, and the program gets players to the next level -- professionally and competitively, you have the building blocks of a respectable and consistent program

Not only does it not lead to sustained program success, it did not even lead to one good season of success.

And only a handful of staffs in the country "have the tactics down." And even they can get knocked off in an early round of the the NCAA.

How about a new NCAA rule? In order to coach college basketball, you have to have a college degree or, alternatively, you have to be a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.

I believe J Kidd secured a degree from tRump University when he played for the Nets.

This is true. Just look at the number one picks for this year and recent years. Arizona had a worse W/L record with Ayton. Washington had a MUCH worse W/L record with Fulltz. LSU had a worse record with Simmons. I'm not suggesting it's wise to pass on elite talent if you can get it; but it doesn't guarantee you anything at all. Winning teams are winning teams because they have a strong foundation, great coaches, program stability and depth. Just ask Villanova and Michigan.

What are we going to say?
"Sorry, you're too good for our program."

I suppose it wouldn't make sense to wait, and wait, and wait, for a player or two or three to decide if they were gonna come - because maybe they don't. So, if you want to argue that 1 solid 3-star in hand is worth more than maybe 1 sketchy 5-star in the bush, I'll agree. But I'll always take the greater athletic talent, all else being equal.

(Coaches will make their own determination to rankings, I understand. There is always more that goes into evaluations beyond just on the court stuff. Character counts. And other intangibles.)

You're missing a couple clues:
1. "tRump". It's an insult, therefore a joke.
2. It's from Bearister, therefore a joke.

I've got some land in Florida to sell ya, Oski.

I would too. But for me, the sweet spot, rankings-wise, is the 50-150 range. If we can have 3-5 of those guys on each roster (1 or 2 each recruiting cycle) who hang around for 3 or 4 years, I promise ya we'll be very good.

3 to 5?
Dude, get greedy.
EVERY guy on your roster could/should be ranked 50-150!!

Where is the obit tab for BI?
I'm always looking for the bio pages, too. Of course, mine is empty, so...

I also agree that Both JB and IR gained little under Cunzo except getting a little bigger and stronger. A total waste of talent that you can see now, but was never apparent for the year they where there. I also watched a few of the Mizzo games, and felt Cunzo did little to maximize some pretty good talent .
The reason they refer to schools having a good program vs getting a couple one and dones, is your better off getting 4 good players into your program, and adding each year vs the one year wonders.
