Celtics 61-35 at half. Jaylen has 18, 7 boards, and "a swarming defense".

Fun to see him do so well.
He never gets too high or too low emotionally.

That game was a snoozer. C's jumped out to a big lead and never looked back.
Surprising. I thought Lebron would squish the younger opponent, but where was he? Absent.

I think this is the new mode of play.
Get 5 guys who cam dribble, drive, shoot 3's. Spread the floor. If they sag, shoot the 3. If they defend out wide, the lane is open and anyone can drive 1v1.

Vanover is at a disadvantage by he can't drive.

right on. small ball and shooting 3's is in. vanover does not answer our current problem. we need a deadeye shooter to compliment our current team.

Jaylens gotten really good at changing directions rather than just charging into people

Irving is a top 5 player offensively so obviously losing him hurts. But Hayward? Is he really a better two way player than either Jaylen or Tatum?

Having Korver guard Jaylen has been amusing.

Boston is really going to be interesting next year when those two guys come back. And then they have the urge to draft pick, which is supposed be lottery? They may have to trade numbers for another superstar they will be so deep.

Over the next several years, the Celtics will still have a plethora of 1st-round picks even after making seven 1st-round selections from 2014-2017. Here's a look at whose top picks they own in the next five drafts:

2018
* Los Angeles Lakers (If pick falls between spots 2-5) (2.9% chance of this)
Boston Celtics' own pick

2019
* Philadelphia 76ers (unlikely) or Sacramento Kings (VERY LIKELY!) (If the Lakers' 2018 pick falls outside 2-5, Boston will instead have a choice between Philadelphia's top-1 protected pick or Sacramento's top-1 protected pick in 2019)
^ Memphis Grizzlies (If pick falls outside top-8) (impossible, as they are in line for #2)
+ Los Angeles Clippers (If pick falls outside top-14) (Likely a playoff team, after landing Lebron)
Boston Celtics' own pick

2020
^ Memphis Grizzlies (If pick has not yet been conveyed and falls outside top-6) 49%
+ Los Angeles Clippers (If pick has not yet been conveyed and falls outside top-14) (already given if Clips make playoffs year before)
Boston Celtics' own pick

2021
^ Memphis Grizzlies (If pick has not yet been conveyed. Pick would be unprotected) 51%
Boston Celtics' own pick

draft.
I bolded what I think will happen.
Here is my summary:

2018
#27

2019
#6
#20? Totally depends on this summer's Clippers off-season moves.
#27

2020
#27

2021
#8
#27

Not THAT special of a situation, there are only 2 picks in there that could be particularly good.

Jaylen's game is so much better all around now. Way better form on his shot, better handles, better body control, uses his explosiveness judiciously, can stop and pop. And his defense is very tough. 21 years old and playing like this in a conference finals is impressive.

Draft lottery coming up.
Hoping for Lakers to land #2 so that Boston can steal that.
Though, it would be funny if LAL gets #1 (1.1% chance) the 76ers would get it and they'd have Embiid and Ayton together.

Boston will NOT get the Lakers 2028 pick, instead will be likely Sacramento's pick next year.

Now I guess I hope Sac gets Ayton at #1.

Oooo.
Sac is in top 3.
The excitement is riveting!

That actually bad for Boston, though.

Lebron goes off for 21 in first qtr.
Jaylen Brown hits for 14.

Just to keep this parallel with my other post. Jaylen had 23 in the first two, and led the Celtics in scoring both times.

It'll be interesting to see how Celtics use their rotations next year with Kyrie and Hayward back. And we now know they will not get a stud in this year's draft - which is perhaps a good thing. Space it out and let the roster age a bit before adding fresh blood.
I'll take a stab:

PG: Kyrie
SG: Tatum
SF: Hayward
PF: Morris
C: Horford

1: Rozier
2: Smart
3: Brown
4: Baines
5: Monroe

That's a good roster!

Hanging on Depth:
Shane Larkin
Jabari Bird
Semi Ojeleye
G. Yabusele
Abdel Nader
Daniel Theis
J. Gibson
Kadeem Allen
2018 draft pick, #27 overall.

Will Ainge stand pat with that? Or will he make some blockbuster trade to bring in 1 more huge star, perhaps a "Big" upgrade to pair with Horford? Morris, Baines and Monroe probably not adequate for championship caliber, particularly if Horford were to go down (by a shove in the back by JR Smith - punk!).

Rozier has been awesome, by the way!

Good article on thoughts for celtics roster and offseason moves. It would seem that the C's can't keep all of Kyrie, Rozier, Brown, Smart, and Tatum - can they?
