Anyone know what Knowlton thinks of the basketball situation?

Premature in my opinion. changing horses in midstream is terribly risky. you risk having an unknown number of talented sophomores and freshman transferring. you risk having thge incoming recruits opt out of their LOI. You risk losing all or most of your talented assistant coaches. and the reward is totally unknown. The incoming HC is not guaranteed to be better or even as good as the current HC. The new assistants are not guaranteed to be better or as good as the current crop. We would lose our pipeline to Texas. We would lose David grace, the best recruiter Cal has had in a long time. There may come a time when the when the rewards of changing horses may outweigh the actual or perceived risks in doing so. The trick is to know the optimum time for the changing of the guard. That time has certainly not arrived for the consequences listed above. I know patience is hard when losing but right now it is the only strategy.

I have never waited more than a couple of hours for a response from him.
And FWIW, he is aware of the problems w/ the basketball program, but prefers not to comment on his thoughts at this point.
He has always responded to me within hours. So I have taken your advice and written him. Thanks for the suggestion.

He can't be happy with the attendance so far. Might be one of the biggest factors in his final decision

Anyone know who/how to contact someone about the "Haas Experience" (so much talk about the football game day experience)
Personally, I'm fine with letting basketball wallow around the gutter for another two seasons. The AD has bigger fish to fry this off season with football raises and retention. Replace this current bball mistake after next season. Now, if some billionaire wants to step in and turn this into a real P12 program, by all means.
Can't help but think that tomorrow is an audition for our next head coach. Ivy League academic background, has developed Bay Area connections interested to see how the dons play.

USF's coach Kyle Smith looks like a good one. Seems like a logical candidate if we need a new coach down the road.
"Excellent group" would be one with one more 4-star big, IMO. That is if you trust recruit rankings. Right now we have a freshman, Kelly, who will be good in a year or two, Vanover who might be good in 2 or 3 years, and Anticevich (?). Thorpe is an unknown.
