In a game between our women's team and our men's?

Let me know if starting this thread relieved some of your frustration. I've been trying not to go too negative, but maybe if I thought of it as therapy...

LOL - yes it is helping. Too early on a workday for me to start drinking to quell my frustrations.

I think MBB would beat WBB because MBB players are much taller and stronger even though they are greatly handicapped by lack of coaching.

The male practice players give our women's team more competition than they can handle, and those males are far from D1 players.

Yeah, the premise is a joke (and meant as such). It's like in years when our football team is especially inept and somebody asks how we would do against De la Salle.

I'm sorry, but this tongue in cheek comment is making it spill out of me. I watched every basketball game my daughter played in from 1st grade through high school and as a parent, I loved every minute of it. Her last game was my last viewing of a women's basketball game. Without my kid in the game I find it unwatchable.
The aspect that bothers me the most is that a high premium is placed on aggression because the games are not properly officiated, by design. One of my golf buddies reffed girl's high school games. His first few games he was told to swallow his whistle because if he called every legitimate foul the games would take forever to play and both teams would foul out.
Oh, and to answer your question, if the game was properly officiated, a boys 6th grade All Star Team would beat a college women's team.
BTW I enjoy watching almost every other sport competed in by women, but basketball? NFW!

Wow. You mean you actually concede there is a college basketball team that a Wyking Jones team would defeat?

I remember KC Jones being interviewed after he had coached his first season in the women's pro league. The reporter asked him what was most different about the women's game. Jones answered that the one thing he was not prepared for was all the real crying and tears in the locker room after a loss.

No. Let me be very clear. Our MBB team does not need The Guy Mike Williams Hired As MBB "coach" to beat our WBB. That guy is not needed.

Wyking Jones, in spite of your hateful derision of the man, is currently the one who would need to schedule the game, as he schedules all the men's games. It was Wyking Jones who made the decision to schedule ALL of the Bay Area schools, which may be historic, and was enjoyable for many of us. So the real reason you are so much against Wyking Jones is because you know he will not schedule a game against the Cal ladies? Isn't that misogyny? Jones knows the ladies will get beaten in that game, and he likely has too much respect for them and the thought very likely never crossed his mind.

I would also propose that we all stop referring to you as calbear 80, and we refer to you henceforth, as "the one who hates the current Cal basketball coach"

Reading between the lines of Monty's color commentary last night, it may involve little more that asserting control over Paris Austin for Wyking to be considered a decent coach. The team really clicked as his assists were piling up. D and boards are additional issues...but Rome wasn't built in a day.

It is a mindset that needs to be established. The next step would be to play this way two games in a row. That might be a test, as they will need to quickly refocus after the Christmas holiday, and Seattle is no pushover. They lost by 20 to Stanford in their very first game, but are 11-2 since then, including a 9 point win over WSU, which has had a good pre-conference season themselves, going 7-3, averaging 85 points a game (#16 in the nation), including a 6-point loss to a good New Mexico State team on the road. Seattle has not played many good teams, but they are ranked #42 on offense and #106 on defense, so maybe a test.

I know. And you are right - it's useless. I don't like the moneyed types who think that because they donate a lot of money, or buy you an expensive dinner, it some how gives them the right to say or do whatever they want, no matter if it offends you.

Calbear80 reminds me of a Warrior fan years ago who had a seat right behind the Warrior bench and coach. At a game with the Clippers, Derek Smith (whom the Warriors had traded to the Clippers because the coach thought he couldn't play guard) went off for 40 points while playing guard for the Clippers. After every Smith bucket, the fan stood up and yelled right in the coach's ear, "Derek - Can't Play Guard - Smith."

I expect when Wyking Jones' Cal team starts winning a lot of games, a PAC12 title, and making NCAA runs (which I hope really happens), then Calbear80 will have spent his wad for a seat behind the coach, and with every bucket made by the opposing team, he will stand up and shout, "Wyking - Can't Coach Basketball - Jones."

I fear there are too many other people who lay claim to calbear80's new moniker. We wouldn't know which WJ anti-fan is which.

OK, I'll give you Cal's MBB team beating Cal's WBB team. But against the UCONN Women & Gene Auriemma?
