And I imagine UW also owns the worst lost of the season?HoopDreams said:
Cal has more wins over top 25 teams than UW has

Glad it didn't matter but I just watched that overturned call about 5 more times and I still can't see how in the world that was overturned. Can only assume the PAC-12 general counsel was involved again.
Though I'm a season ticket holder who still actually uses my tickets, I have hardly ever checked the conference standings this season... because I always knew we were in last place. So, driving out to the game, I was kind of shocked to hear the radio guys say that UW was 13-1 in conference. Whoa, really?!? I mean, I knew they were in first place, but, 13-1?stu said:
A few observations:
The crowd looked to be about 3000, comparable to a good crowd at a women's game. As the game wore on the mood went from resigned to hopeful to enthusiastic. A real treat for those few who bothered to attend.
In the first half both teams were really hot from outside. I was surprised to see UW stay in their zone in the second, but we did struggle against it. With about 6 or 8 minutes remaining we had 3 consecutive turnovers and lost our lead, but our players didn't fold and we began scoring again.
I was also surprised at how bad UW's bigs looked. Anticevich and especially Vanover decisively outplayed them. And our perimeter players, especially Sueing, came through gaping holes in their zone to crash the boards. If I had been coaching UW I would have gone five out and played man defense.
Is UW the best the Pac-12 can offer? Sheesh!

And we beat 'em. We played well, but they didn't look like any great shakes, by any means. 13-1?!? Well, 13-2, now. What a conference.
Yeah, about that entirely possible outlook... you forget in that awful conference, we've won, you know, one game. Just for the absolute hillariousness of it I would love to see us run the tourney table. It would be glorious.calumnus said:Big C said:Though I'm a season ticket holder who still actually uses my tickets, I have hardly ever checked the conference standings this season... because I always knew we were in last place. Which just means winning 4 games in the PAC-12 Tournament (and being the official "PAC-12 Champs" with the autobid) is entirely possible.
It would be 4 games in 4 nights, would it not? Obviously impossible... I think.TheFiatLux said:Yeah, about that entirely possible outlook... you forget in that awful conference, we've won, you know, one game. The PAC12 is not a power conference.stu said:

Nice win for the Bears. Happy for them. Must be such a relief.
Can't help but note that Cal Bear 80 is nowhere to be seen now that the losing streak is broken. That guy sucks big time and is not a true fan no matter what he says.
Hmmm.... it would be an historic first, a power conference team in the 16 seed play-in game. Hell, a power conference team with anything worse than a 12 seed is probably historic.bluesaxe said:Would that get us a play-in game?calumnus said:

We can't be in the "other" play-in games, those are for at-large teams, so we'd need to be bottom 4 of all the teams that get in. I'm guessing we wouldn't quite be down there. With upsets in other crappy conferences, by the time we, uh, run the table and have our sterling 12-22 record, there will probably be 4 teams ranked below us. But maybe not.
If the Bears win the conference tourney, however, the NCAA tourney will likely be canceled anyway due to the apocalypse.
So happy for everyone in the program. We almost came completely unglued even before that reversal of the call on the court. Darius missed a one and one to win the game, then UW missed a shot, and JHD had a rebound right in his bread basket and just let it get away. But it doesn't matter anymore. We won!calfanz said:
If they had made that miracle heave w 1.2 seconds left I would have come completely unglued. That was total bull crap they overturned that out of bounds play. It should be referred to the Pac-12 office. (Not that that would do any good)
