I don't even know what to think at this point. Is this a good thing to lose all of your players when you were one of the worst teams in the NCAA? Who is going to take their place? How long does Fox stay? Does Cal even want basketball anymore? I don't know. Do I even care?

If I were a Cal fan, I'd be good having underclassmen from a historical failure of a coaching regime go away. You flush next year like you flushed the last two. This gives Fox more latitude to recruit his own guys. If he's good, this is a positive.

There are no guarantees in life. He'll be an A an F or something in between. But Wyking and CM's guys going away isn't a problem. Failure on this scale requires a gut job. I'd like to see Bradley and Kelly stay. Besides that, I don't GAF.

This was more or less the perspective I suggested we should consider. 2019-2020 is a free pass. Get your guys in who came to play for you that will grow with the program and peak when Fox will need to show some considerable improvement years 2 and 3.

Fox can't have the same 2 years as Wyking and keep his job, but year 1 is a free pass.

Fox probably saw the tape and knew he wasn't truly going to do a hard sell job to keep anybody. Maybe this was a part of his plan. Don't mince words - payers who aren't buying in won't stay -- Fox gets his own guys.

If our new team loses 15 in a row next season but wins the 16th game can an argument be crafted that they are a better team?

2. It will be telling to see what Fox does with all the scholarships that are opening up.

No one should care. The AD clearly doesn't give a f-ck - That's why he not only let Wyking stay way too long, he also let a crappy search firm handle the entire process that ended with us hiring Fox.

Anyone on here that still goes to games or donates needs to have their head examined. You (most likely) went to Cal. You're smart, analytical, can make rational decisions, understand a good use of your time and money versus a poor use. Don't support this garbage. Walk away. Spend your money on a useful charity. Spend more time with family and friends. Or switch to football before Knowlton screws that up as well.

Or consider women's basketball. Next season the team will be rebuilding but should be presentable and include about an order of magnitude less drama.

Yeah, Fox had 9 years to get "his guys" at Georgia and managed to do nothing. Made the tournament only twice and lost in the first round both times. Never even made a run in the NIT. If Fox intentionally chased these guys off he is even worse than we thought since the ability to replace them at this point is very limited. I hope to be proven wrong on that.

Most troubling is that there is no player from Georgia or anywhere else that is following him here. This is a complete DISASTER. Anyone know how ADs are judged? I mean who does this guy's performance review?

Nobody has anywhere to follow him FROM: He worked last year as a volunteer, trying to build his resume back up. Came away with some good boilerplate recommendations, too!

It's probably too late for me, career-wise, but I'm gonna pass this advice on to my son: Boy, start a search firm!

You guys are ridiculous. How many decent players in one year do you think it is feasible to recruit?

People said the same crap about the players on Holmoe's last team. Tedford got buy in and they set the foundation for a big turnaround. If you think any recruits of any quality are going to come play here, you are in complete fantasyland.

With the new transfer rules, I honestly don't know any more.

The one thing Fox has going for him is that he doesn't have to own the last couple of years of Cal basketball results. He starts with a clean slate. But based on his Georgia results, i think he's gonna need some recruiting rainmakers on his staff or he's got no chance.

I don't recall anyone counting on anyone, much less one guy, to do that. More like hoping that the one guy hires some other guys who can recruit. And it won't be overnight either way. It's too late for that to happen already.
