How long do you want to ignore this user?
Unable to read any stories in the Mercury news. Keep getting a message I have reached my monthly allotment. I haven't been able to read anything since November

Someone posted a way to bypass. Could you post again?

Can't help you but I have a print subscription to the Merc's East Bay Times at a cost of $80 per month. OUCH! That is Death Throes City, Arizona.

The Mercury News site tracks how many free articles you've read through cookies that it stores on your hard drive. I use Brave browser on Linux & Windows and Script Blocker for Chrome, which has a button that can disable all cookies on a website. That functionality allows me to get around the Mercury News cookies and read their content.

Some quick research suggests that there aren't a lot of script/cookie blockers for Safari on Mac, but you could try out Ghostery Lite and see if that helps. Otherwise, the way to fix it would be to go into your Settings/Preferences and delete any cookies for the mercurynews.com site and then try to read the site.

I'm thinking 30 years ago you would have been a cable pirate watching free HBO.

you can read the stuff on your phone on the mercury news app. If the Mercury news gets mad at you, switch to the east bay times app. virtually the same content.
