This is another team (4-6) that is by no means unbeatable. If one compares their team stats, the Buffs turn the ball over 15 times per game and score in the mid-sixties. Their best player by far is senior post Mya Hollingsworth who is their top scorer and 2nd in the conference in rebounding. Colorado has a soph guard Jaylin Sherrod from Alabama who is their #2 scorer (11.4 ppg) and is super athletic. Their third best player this season is a true freshman guard Frida Formann (9.8 ppg).
The Buffs only hit 26% of their three point attempts and they outscore their opponents by four points per contest. Hollingsworth is their strength inside and they out-rebound their opposition by 5 per game.
Cal has a better shot at an upset in a couple of weeks in Berkeley. Colorado is winless on the road but 4-2 in Boulder. If the Bears get physical and match the Buffs on the boards, they could stay in the game. Cal needs to make more than half their free throws and connect on a half a dozen treys this afternoon to have a chance. Honestly-I would like to see signs of improvement on the team and that the coaching staff comes up with some winnable game plans for their mediocore opponents.
I would speculate that Colorado will out score Cal by 10 points per half, winning comfortably approximately, 70-50. They outscored Sunday's opponent, Utah, 80-50, at home. GO BEARS!
