I will not comment on specifics but please review the final conference stats (especially the defensive ones). On defense, the Bears finished 11th or 12th in every category except for blocked shots. Cal was eighth there.

When conference play began, Cal had outscored their OOC opponents by approximately 10 points per game (72-62). At the end of the season, the Bears had ended up being outscored by 1.21 points per game. The same thing happened regarding rebounding statistics. Cal had an 8 or 9 rebound edge in OOC play, but finished the year in a deficit situation (-0.76/g).

It's a great feeling knowing we have both of them back next year. The foundation is strong.

You just did with the snarky reference to defensive statistics. Shameful.
Give credit where credit is due for once.

I am giving credit where credit is due. What grade would you give your students (and teacher), SFCB72?

I don't give out grades. Pac-12 Coaches do. And they deemed these two Cal players worthy of conference honors. Good enough for me.

There are 16 players on the All-Pac12 Team. Cal, Arizona State and Washington were the only three Pac-12 schools that did not have a representative in that 16 player group. But honorable mention is still a good thing. Daniels also made honorable mention.

Here is the full 16 member team:

Raegan Beers, OSU
Cameron Brink, STAN
Haley Jones, STAN
Hannah Jump, STAN
Gianna Kneepkins, UTAH
Charlisse Leger-Walker, WSU
Destiny Littleton, USC
Rayah Marshall, USC
Quay Miller, COL
Charisma Osborne, UCLA
Shaina Pellington, ARIZ
Alissa Pili, UTAH
Cate Reese ARIZ
Endyia Rogers, ORE
Jaylyn Sherrod, COL
Kadi Sissoko, USC

Interestingly, six of the 16 are past portal transfers. So there are good players out there if you can get them to come to your school.

Honorable Mention: Jayda Curry, CAL; Dalayah Daniels; WASH; Frida Formann, COLO; Jenna Johnson, UTAH; Esmery Martinez, ARIZ; Leilani McIntosh, CAL; Kennady McQueen, UTAH; Bella Murekatete, WSU; Te-Hina Paopao, ORE; Lauren Schwartz, WASH; Tyi Skinner, ASU; Haley Van Dyke, WASH; Grace VanSlooten, ORE; Aaronette Vonleh, COLO; Talia von Oelhoffen, OSU.

Basically a little over 1/2 the starters in the conference were selected to one group or another. Honorable mention is equivalent to being on the 4th, 5th or 6th team.

They usually announce a 15 player all-conference team at the end of the year, along with honorable mentions. This year, there must have been a tie to make it 16.

The last time we had a player in that top 15 group was with Kristine in 2018. The last time we had two players in the top group was 2015 with Brittany and Reshandra. All of the way back in 2013, we had three players - Brittany, Layshia and Gennifer.

How can Jayda not be all conference?

Lelani was best defensive player. If you go to the games, you know that to be true. Our defensive problems were inside. Lelani got underneath you . Hard to shoot then.

Clearly, the coaches give a lot of weight to overall team records. She didn't make it last year either. This year, her scoring was down some, assists were up, and shooting percentages were about the same,. That is why I would like to see her play next year as a scoring point guard rather than as a shooting guard. I think she is going to peak out in this league in her current role. Also, the energy level will need to be more consistent.

Don't remember who was guarding Leger-Walker, Pennington, Sherrod, or London Jones, but they went off for some big games against us. We also had the worst opponent three- point shooting percentage in the league and overall worst defense. So maybe it is all relative.

It's ridiculous that Jayda wasn't in the top15--even Michelle Smith thought she would be--but her junior and senior seasons will be all the sweeter for #30's multiple awards.

With the selection of Reagan Beers as FOY and Sixth player the excuse of lack of wins can't be true. Wins was used as the reason Jayda wasn't chosen by the coaches last season though.

While I did like how Reagan played for OSU, I would've chosen VanSlooten or Kiki Rice as FOY.

There was a stretch of five games where Beers' minutes and stats were down, including against us, possibly from an injury. But she then put up an impressive streak of double-doubles in four of her last five games. That got her votes from those coaches.

KIKI Rice is my favorite Freshman player. Enjoy watching her play. The pac-12 is recruiting well!!!

Wish they would share the wealth with Cal....GO BEARS!

I am astounded how good Utah players are, and the team is young. How did Lynn Roberts find these top notch scorers!! She is deserving of Coach Of TheYear.......Go Utes in the Pac-12 tournament. I would like to see them win the title. They are more consistent then Stanford. However, Stanford seems to be able to win close games. Haley Jones just goes for it.

Reagan played great this year. Excited to see her further develop.

The classes Arizona, Stanford, USC and Oregon are bringing in will be tough to compete with. Then schools like Utah and Colorado are bringing all of their top players back.

Lynne Roberts for COY was very deserving as was Pili for POY.
