The Cal WBB IG just posted that Kamryn has committed to Cal.

Kamryn is listed as a 6'2" PF. Has anyone seen her play? She is local and plays on Kidd's AAU team.

Here's her recruiting profile that includes a highlight video: https://www.ncsasports.org/womens-basketball-recruiting/california/folsom/folsom-high-school1/deana-mafua

She had offers from Nevada, Santa Clara, Idaho, Hawaii, UCSB, UCSD, USF, Cal Poly, Pacific, Yale, Harvard, and Cal.

I saw one 30 second clip posted in 2022 and she does not look like a Pac-12 caliber player. Maybe she has improved since. Cal offered her last year and she also attended a Cal camp.

"Kamryn should be our league MVP and is a candidate to be the Sac Bee Player of the Year," Wolking said. "The coolest thing about her is that she's getting better by the day. She's focused. She's loved by her teammates, and I'm looking forward to having her for another year.

"Kamryn's got the best hands for a big that I've ever coached. She catches everything thrown her way, whether she's in traffic or not. She's athletic, can rebound, she shoots 75-80 percent from the free throw line, which is really good for a big. Her three-point shot is improving. She's competitive. She's really matured this year and her focus is a lot better and it shows up in her performance. She plays with poise. She's got seven or eight offers and I bet she will have 20 or more when it's all said and done."

I would actually say that her comp is Daniels, although not quite as tall.

I hope Kamryn Mafua gets taller so she can get her shots off in the Pac 12. She does remind one of Dalayah Daniels per her style of offense. I don't know that she can rebound and block shots as well as DD. This Folsom player could really elevate her game for the college level by becoming a dead-eye three point shooter. This outside threat would help open up lanes for her to drive to the basket, too. I'm glad that she has another year to develop her game. GO BEARS!

As I reported earlier, she is very well liked by Nor Cal Prep. considered a very good rebounder.

Her current clips from this season (all on Youtube) show a large improvement from the one posted.

She looks very laterally quick, has 3 point range, passes well. With some college weight training she could be a strong Pac 12 player. Great get.

This is not a comment necessarily on this current recruit... but I think people need to remember. A lot of these clips show 14-15 year old children playing a sport.

People develop at different times.

I don't even think Anigwe or Gray played Varsity Freshman year.
