Late start time

I see that the regular season opener vs. Bakersfield is scheduled to start at 8:30 on November 6 (a Monday). I don't imagine that many attending fans will be happy about such a late start. Don't the powers that be realize that? There's a men's home game scheduled for the same day with no starting time given so I imagine the women are meant to be part two of a doubleheader. Are doubleheaders so important that we have to have these late starts? How do others feel about 8:30 tip offs?

I'd prefer an earlier start time or a Tuesday game day instead.

I think that WBB might like being the second game in a doubleheader with the hope that those attending the men's game might stick around for the women's game. New audience. Might payoff in an attendance boost for future games if they like what they see. That's assuming they don't have to exit Haas between games.

I found another scheduled game with Santa Clara at Cal on Wednesday, November 8th, @ 7pm.

I think that's an error on their schedule.
We don't have them on our schedule this season. After the Nov. 6 game, we play Cal Poly at home on Nov 13.

It looks like we pulled out of the West Palm Beach Classic originally scheduled for December 20 and 21. So we had to add Santa Clara on 11/8 and UL-Monroe on 12/21. I suppose someday Cal will get around to announcing these changes.

This announcement by UIC back in August listed the original 10 teams in the WPBC and it included Cal. But if you look at the tournament's website, it now shows only 9 of those teams and no Cal. It looks like IUPUI and FAU agreed to take our place and just play a single game in this tournament (after originally being scheduled to play in UCF's now-cancelled tournament). It's nice that all these teams scrambled around to accommodate our withdrawal.

I just sent an email to Cal Athletics in care of Anish Patel, who handles Communications for WBB, asking when the schedule on Calbears.com would be updated with the changes you mentioned plus the opponents for the Raising the B.A.R. Invitational in late November. We'll see how quickly I get a reply.
