dead and radically reformed conferences, pleas for donations to Cal Athletics, and such like. Can anyone explain this to me, or direct me to a good Web site for an explanation?

Well, here's a page for the Cal Legends NIL. https://calegends.com/our-services/

You can contribute specifically to a team. I'm not a fan of the NIL as I'd rather just donate to the program itself and let the powers that be determine where the money is needed most, but I did make a contribution (to WBB) this year....as to the future, I'll probably return to donations to the program.

Essentially donating to a university directly goes to improving staff resources and other things internally. At this point I'd struggle to see what that'd be for hoops, outside of a practice facility that'd cost hundreds of millions to build at this point.

NIL goes to the players, and makes a school more attractive to top prospects. Football and men's basketball have already put out top 15-20 classes the last two years via the portal and been able to improve their teams drastically.

For the time being, NIL will be critical to fielding a good squad. Maybe less so in non-revenue sports, but women's basketball is probably going to be moving toward a better spot soon.

Coaches can't talk about NIL too much, but it is their number one priority from their fans.

Cal Legends is doing an NIL drive for all three sports right now. Football and Men's basketball are over half a million, but I'm sure the women need some assistance here.

I thought that each sport is assigned by the Athletic Dept a minimum amount of direct fundraising to support the "staff resources and other things internally" so if Cal Fans just stopped making their historic donations to the teams they support and instead switched that to the NIL effort, that could cause problems.

I can imagine less money going to "staff resources and other things internally" could improve my gameday experience.

Am trying to imagine its turning down the music by 25% so we can actually discuss the game at half time.

My AirPods have made it much easier to "hear" and enjoy the game experience. They are noise cancelling but I can still hear the important stuff and conversation but they block out the LOUD! Highly recommend using some type of noise cancelling ear protection. Works like a charm. :-)

Io has launched some gear, including a coffee mug (yes, already ordered a few)
While not part of the collective, it's still a great way to show support.

It's very simple, helping the collective directly impacts the players and our roster. Without this, the rest is ultimately pointless. Who cares if your donations to the program helped hire a new TikTok specialist or pay for a trainer's raise if the NIL couldn't help land a good roster.

Not winning and not being a top 20 program especially in fb will cause huge problems. Nil is a way to attract top talent and becoming a top 20 program. In the next five years there will be another conference realignment and if Cal is not a top program it will not be part of the realignment conference. This will cause all funds to dry up - as they come from tv rights - and the sports at Cal will die. So yes not donating to NIL will cause major problems.
