in Haas I don't notice it often and it doesn't bother me

it adds to the energy, and unlike my current situation in Memorial, I can hear the band clearly.

The band also plays frequently and they play a mix of traditional Cal songs and a mix of other songs.

I think the music/band in Haas is fine

It may depend where one is seated and proximity to speakers and band. Don't get me wrong, I love the band and music but sometimes the latter is quite loud and I can't hear announcements well. I generally sit court side so that might be why. Like I said, AirPods cut the sound just enough for my old ears.

I will add this here, though I guess I could have started another thread:
Had the chance to meet Coach a few times during the Auburn weekend. I made a point of going up to her, but she remembered my name the few other times we ran into each other and talked. I didn't ask her anything real specific about the team, recruiting etc. so sorry I have no breaking news. She did say she thought the conference schedule will be out by the end of the month...she is of course "Pac-12" to the core seeing she also attended a conference school, and sad about the demise, but she is definitely looking forward to ACC basketball.
I came away thinking she is incredibly smart and genuine. She doesn't have that "used car salesman" trait that some coaches have....I hope that plays well with most recruits, but I don't know, maybe some recruits/parents need that kind of sell....
Yeah, I get that her record over her tenure at Cal isn't what we might hope, but in terms of understanding the University and being a representative of Cal, in my opinion she is really terrific in my opinion.

Thank you for these observations.

Coach Smith had quite a few posts on Instagram during and after the Auburn game. She was on the field during the game and later acknowledged the Cal players with positive comments/high fives as they joyously left the field after the win.

While she was in Alabama, her players were out and about at community events (First Friday/Oakland, Solano Stroll/Albany, etc.) talking Cal WBB to attendees.

This tells me that Charmin is "all in" for Cal.

for sure...we joked about the Cal/Furd rivalry, but you know what: I would rather have someone who understands that rivalry, even if from the wrong side, then not appreciating it at all...

I think I've mentioned this here before but Charmin was a neighbor of ours for her first few years at Cal. I found her to be an intelligent, likable person with a nice sense of humor. We had frequent chats either about the team or her fearsome cat, Grady, which terrorized our cat.
