Nice to finally see some good bench minutes and production. We will need them going forward with tougher opponents on the schedule! Also just curious- when was the last time we were ahead of FURD in the standings? It's been a long time!
This should be a breakthrough game for attendance. Spend money to advertise. Give away tickets. Look at it as a chance to build future fans.gljone said:

With replays always shown, we can now easily see when there are "shockingly" bad calls.Shocky1 said:
it's a loser mentality to blame outcomes on refs, they may not always make the right call but they are not biased
michelle's chronic foul problems are 100% on her & nobody else...onyiah got wnba athleticism but her telling me before the season that her foul issues are because of the refs is mind boggling & gonna prevent her from ever getting PAID playing the game of basketball
great players/teams adapt, losers whine like candy azz soft crybabies
this board's pathological blaming the refs is sociologically interesting to observe
While it 'should', history has shown that if anyone expects an attendance bump, we'll most likely be disappointed.annarborbear said:This should be a breakthrough game for attendance. Spend money to advertise. Give away tickets. Look at it as a chance to build future fans.gljone said:

Students do get in free to women's basketball games.gljone said:While it 'should', history has shown that if anyone expects an attendance bump, we'll most likely be disappointed.annarborbear said:This should be a breakthrough game for attendance. What I do not understand is why don't more students show up. Forgive my ignorance, but If attendance for students is not free, then it should be. That would be a place to start.
It would be nice if there was a bump in attendance because the team would get a boost from it.
The best fans in the game – period.

20,000 season ticket deposits and another day closer to tip-off at Chase Center. Let’s keep making history together. #JointheAscent pic.twitter.com/vMOlRc6qk3
I don't think the ongoing claim is cheating or fixing, though some may have said this (mostly as a joke or to vent?). I think it is simple frustration and "discussing" amongst like-minded peers to identify obvious errors and their impact. What is the point of being a fan if you don't have the right and passion to complain and cheer for coaching decisions, player performance, and refs? There literally is no sport without spectators involvement--and we can't get on the court, we can only kvetch about what goes on on the court/field. It's not the enterprise of losers, it is the enterprise of being a non-participant.Shocky1 said:
understood and those bad calls go both ways, marta crashed into opposing defenders multiple times and jayda pushed opposing offensive players without fouls being called & the bears probably lead the nation in uncalled moving screen fouls
there's no money in sports book betting for collegiate women's basketball, the refs are not biased for either team

Of course play better should overcome bad calls (not always)...but the point is we are not the players. "We" can't play better. We are watching the game...and talking about the game. We are not telling the players not to play better, or telling them to complain about the refs, or providing them with excuses, or communicating with the refs...the only thing we are doing is talking amongst ourselves. Are we supposed not comment to one another when there is an obvious bad call? I think the weaksauce/loser criticism may come from people who forget that they are not playing and that being a spectator has zero effect on the outcome, that their ego, superstition, and vicarious experience has taken over their common sense.mbBear said:blungld said:I don't think the ongoing claim is cheating or fixing, though some may have said this (mostly as a joke or to vent?). Without a doubt, a good post. But I have always hated the complaining about refs stuff, so in a straightforward way, I agree with Shocky Play better, don't make it come down to calls.
But, no question, frustration is all part of it...
