Recently had Australian center on recruiting trip. Parents liked Berkeley. Progress? And others?

Much like football recruiting, the student athletes have to make their commitment announcements public before the coaching staff can comment.

Football and Men's basketball have "recruiting" information on this site. I am not asking for premature commitment, but knowing who is being recruited would be interesting.

Still on the 2025 radar according to Raoul's WBB Blog:

Brooklynn Charlo, 6' Guard, Thornton Colorado (attends high school in Florida); offered 6/24.

Ashlynn Chlarson, 6'2 Post, junior college sophomore, Eastern Arizona College, offered 11/24.

Player(s) from transfer portal expected as well.

That sounds pretty promising given Twidale's already on the roster.

Believe it or not, I think that there are more Aussies playing women's basketball than any other nationality. The local teams all seem to have one or more on their rosters.

I think I heard of Charlson, just couldn't remember her name.

I went to the St Mary's/Santa Clara WBB game last Saturday in Moraga. It was Australian night! They gave out small flags, which the many very young girl scouts waved with joy! The Australian National Anthem was also played. One of Santa Clara's Australian players was a grad transfer from St. Mary's. Santa Clara won in OT. St, Mary's won in OT earlier in the season at Santa Clara. Lulu is a Charming Aussie BEAR......so glad she came to Cal!

When i was in Canada seeing a minor league baseball game. They played Oh Canada and then our national anthem. They knew all the words to ours. How many of us could repeat the words to Oh Canada.

I understand.

But maybe you should ask the Mods here if they can add women's basketball "recruiting" information to this site given the year Charmin, the staff and players are having now. Seems like a worthwhile endeavor.

I assume the "Mods" read these posts. Additionally, why is weight of male athletes listed in the roster, but not the female athletes???

I paid for awhile but after posting on the recruiting board (Premium) a question about women's basketball, it would lie there for 2 months with no answer.

Why does weight matter? In football yes but I don't think listing weight of basketball players is relevant to much.

Really? Two women the same height go up for a rebound, one weighs 160 the other 120, Gonna make a difference quite frequently

In men's basketball a 6-7, 265 lb player will probably have a different game than a 7-3, 225 lb player (comparing Markhuri Sanders-Frison and Connor Vanover).

I get it…however, given the fact that young women are routinely body shamed in this society it pains me to say, listing weight is best avoided don't you think? Imagine it being fodder for arguments just as there are over actual vs stated height. Catch my drift?

I'm not advocating for or against publishing weights, I think that should be up to the players. But I do think weight matters.

I get that, but in today's society that theory can be flipped around. In this day and age of women's sports, and especially women's basketball, the narrative we constantly hear is that they want their game to be respected in the same manner of men's basketball (which I COMPLETELY agree with), so in turn give us the same info on the women as we get on the men.

You think men aren't fat shamed. If women want to be treated as equals then the same stats should apply.

Ok...clearly you haven't grown up female....LOL. Sorry, I was just trying to make a thoughtful point....go ahead, put their weights on rosters if it's so important to you. Of course weight matters, but me, I can watch their videos and assess thanks.

Just to be fair, the omission of their weight appears to be important to you. It's athletics, height and weight should be disclosed. You don't think from time to time men have been critiqued about their weight? Fair is fair.

Fine....in the name of equality post weights if it makes you happy and gives you crucial insights into a player's abilities....

However, just to be fair, one should then understand that weight composition is inherently different in male vs female athletes:

Table 1. Common body fat percentages of college student-athletes per NCAA
In basketball: (males) 6-12%. (females) 20-27%

I guess I'm just not trusting most to acknowledge the differences in "normal" weight for males vs females before judging....

When Charles Barkley played at Auburn University, he was 6'4" tall and weighed 300 lbs. And people called him the Round mound of rebound or Porky Pig on a pogo stick. He has been fat shamed all his life. and i don't think he liked it.
