One of you sunshine personalities can more appropriately do the type of coverage that Cal fans deserve.

Are "sunshine personalities" part of the radical left?

Losing posters and info is never a good thing.

Personal attacks don't help, from either side.

Sad ...

S71, I hope you stay and continue providing good analysis and information about Cal WBB as you have done in the past. A lot of us enjoy reading your posts.

Go Bears!

I love analysis, and anyone who wants to post it should. But if someone feels the need to attack people's views unprovoked, personally insult players, or question their skills in a way that's just cruel there's no excuse for that. And if he can't figure out the difference by now between that and analysis, there's no hope for him. He's in his 70s, not a teenager. This isn't new behavior either-he does the same thing on the Olympic sports board. He goes after one softball player consistently about not hitting out of the infield and questions why she's allowed to play in a demeaning and frankly evil way. SHE'S A SLAP HITTER. That's her JOB.

Anyways, I'm over talking about S71. Even though he decided to go after Suarez in his initial post, I'll miss her. Do we have any portal targets in mind with similar styles?

I hope she has a successful overseas career.

We are about to find out how much NIL we do have available for women's basketball. The price is going up every year, and playing on a winner can generate opportunities for legitimate endorsement contracts. A good player would be out of their mind not to shop around.

Keep in mind that our international players don't have that "shop around" ability, unless I misunderstand the rule...

We actually did not have highly rated portal classes these past two years. Suarez, Williams and Noble did not start in their final years at their previous schools. Krimilli, Ackerman and Langarita came from non-Power 4 conferences. Maul has continued to be set back by high school injury problems and was not a starter at Texas. But Charmin did a sensational job this year of melding this group into a combination of great three-point shooting and intensified defense. Each new year will present a new challenge in this current environment. But coming off of a winning year should help, presuming that we do have NIL to offer.

I am not certain where that comes from. Krimilli, Langarita and Suarez were all eligible to use the portal once they were enrolled in a U.S. school.

Sorry, wasn't implying that. My understanding was that International students aren't in the mix for NIL.

Just looked that up. You are correct. International players in this country on an F-1 visa cannot do active paid NIL work for and through the colleges that they attend. But a very creative school might be able to arrange for the NIL to be paid for work done outside the U.S. with and through a foreign entity. My head hurts just thinking about this new world of college professional sports.

Well, if I'm your teammate, maybe you got an extra 10k to "take care of me", the hot shooting guard from country X?

Believe it or not, Michigan, the other school that I root for, has just signed the #1 high school quarterback in the country to a rumored $10 million NIL deal, paid for by Larry Ellison. I am rapidly losing interest in this wildly unequal playing field.

Charmin Smith has a loser's mentality and will not get this program where it's capable of going.

I think this public statement requires a bit more public explanation.

And if you don't want to get into Charmin's mentality, at least tell us where Cal's program is capable of going. Can Cal be a Sweet 16 team or better? Should that be the annual expectation? If so, what can be done to make that happen?

Is an occasional 25-win season not enough? Can Cal legitimately expect to win that many games every year given the realities of the sport?

100% agree. Please enlighten us all. A lot of people probably thought the same about Lindsay Gottlieb too. Good talker but coaching? Nothing like a couple of all-americans helping you out.

Frankly it's unhinged and completely detached from reality given this season.
