This seems to have turned into a Valk Board. But despite their sellouts and we had a great record, will we have more buts in the seats this year. This could be my last year. I don't like the way that college sports is heading. Do I continue to donate and buy season tickets or should i stop.

I also don't like the way college sports is heading. There is no way to predict with accuracy how a team like Cal will fare in virtually any sport. The free agency (transfer portal + NIL $) has made it almost impossible to follow the teams that you love. I have always known the rosters and the depth charts of the teams that I follow but not any- more. Some people count sheep to help fall asleep. I have always constructed lineups and depth charts in my head, but I don't know the names of new players, etc. I have stopped doing college teams and now think of the SF Giants or Archbishop Mitty girls bball instead. It's a SAD state of affairs for Bear's fans in the summer of 2025. I am not looking forward to the coming season for Cal because I don't see many of the teams thriving/ winning in this CHAOTIC environment. GO BEARS!

Attendance will be better.

Fans will come to see Puff Morris! And Lulu!

To me high school ball is going down hill too. Why should my tax dollars go to build a gym in my home town when if they are any good, they transfer to Mitty.

It will be interesting to see how fans throughout the country respond to these changes. I am expecting an overall drop-off in both interest and attendance in college sports with these constantly rotating rosters and players for sale to the highest bidder.

wvitbear-my mention of Mitty was that I simply knew the top ten players that they have returning. High school is also having transfer difficulties per your point.

Attendance always takes a year to catch up to performance so I think you can guarantee that there will be bigger crowds at Haas this coming season for women's games. How much bigger is another matter. A good start would help.
As to the comments regarding the changing nature of college sports, I'm in total agreement. College football used to be my favorite sport but it has been totally ruined. The ending of long time rivalries and the creation of geographically insane mega conferences alone have done irreparable damage. I hated watching us play U$C and UCLA in all sports and I really miss watching us play U$C and UCLA in all sports, if you know what I mean.

Hard to believe rhat the settlement only came up with an overall salary cap, with potential loopholes, rather than also adding binding multi-year contracts once you've taken the money and some restored portal constraints. I am not certain that the people in charge have really understood what has kept fan interest alive across all NCAA schools over the years.

Neither of the AD's at USC and UCLA had ever lived or gone to school on the West Coast before their leading roles in breaking up the PAC12.

Why not give it one or two seasons more?

We are keeping the Valkyries to a single thread. It's off-season. I think it's nice to share thoughts about a local team (that also seems supportive of Cal WBB). What's the harm, particularly during summer doldrums? I just bought 2 tickets for the game in Paris. Hope I can swing it. I haven't given up on college sports yet.

All we can do is focus on showing up ourselves (and bring a damn friend as Charmin says), so with that said I know I'll be attending games!

Hopefully, I'll be starting in Paris, since I'll already be in London the week before for work. That was a pleasant surprise on the schedule.
