I remember that after the success of last year's bus trip (and game!) there was talk of repeating it this year. The game is Sunday. Any news?

they were signing up people for the bus. they need 30 to make it ago

if you're interested I think you can contact the WBB people... not sure she is the best person, but you might try the new GM, Meghin Williams

This is what I mean about Cal Athletics marketing: why weren't season ticket holders e-mailed about this? Why wasn't it officially announced here? Is this not a marketing matter?

How were you made aware of this? I'm a season ticket holder and donor…just wondering…

At the pre-game chalk-talk Sunday

Maybe it's because the bus only holds 30?

I don't know…. Seems like they should have included in their promo emails

Cal Athletics marketing had nothing to do with it.

It was the Cal Athletics Fund plus Golden Circle who organized the bus trip.

I got a phone call about reserving a place on the bus. I politely declined because (1) we are over 1000 miles away and (2) on Sunday, we will be even farther away. Apparently, we are "golden circle for some reason - even though we don't donate that much for WBB.

There is a bus apparently that IS going. Not sure if it's open to all, but here you go.... Just got this email:

Hi Cal Women's Basketball Family,
We have a very limited number of seats available for a special, complimentary roundtrip bus from Haas Pavilion to the game at Maples Pavilion to cheer on our Golden Bears taking on Stanford!
The group will meet at 10:30am ahead of the 1:00pm tip-off, and the bus will depart immediately following the game back to Haas Pavilion.
If you are interested, please click here to complete the interest form. You will receive a confirmation email with additional details if your interest is confirmed. Space is extremely limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so please respond by the end of the day to be considered. Game tickets must be purchased separately here.
Go Bears!

I received that email too, titled 'Final Call - Bus to Stanford,' but that is the first and only email I received this season about a bus to Stanford. Nice that it is free at least.

"History" of the original email:

Back on 12/4, Kiara Moore/Cal Athletics Fund sent out an email to Golden Circle members with the subject line: Golden Circle Update - Happy Holidays!

There were 3 items discussed in this email. The third was the Bus to Stanford. Easily missed, I guess.

Assuming every season ticket holders are golden circle members. Should have been sent out to all season ticket holders..'first come ..first served'.

It's not automatic membership as a season ticketholder. You need to join and there is a donation level to be reached.

I'm guessing not enough Golden Circle member signed up and now they are reaching out to the other season ticket holders.

Never got the first email. Joined Golden Circle this week, got the 2nd email. If I go (likely) I'll drive. What's our rooting section?

We had to buy tickets on our own. Most bought in sections 1 or 2 behind the visitors' bench.

That's fine if they want to offer the seats on the bus to Golden Circle members first, but once they were expanding to offer the bus to other WBB season ticket holders, they shouldn't have sent it to us as 'Final call' when it was the first email sent to many of us.

Well, you missed a fun trip.

They offered us breakfast (breakfast burritos) and coffee for the ride to Palo Alto. Some riders brought cookies and brownies to share. The only expenditure on our part: game tickets. A perk of being a Golden Circle member (minimum $500 annual contribution to support Cal WBB).

Fyi. There was also a bus to the Stanford game last January 23rd. I don't recall anyone complaining then. We also had to contribute to the bus rental. Plus buy game tickets.
