I'm now getting to check the box score now that I'm back home. 71% from three for the game?? That's got to be some kind of record.

I mentioned this earlier, but I really don't think you can play Claudia and Sakima together. The rotation gets really thin if Barnes can't go against Louisville.

Has any Cal BB team EVER shot 71% from 3 and 62% overall, especially against a conference opponent??!

Sheppard with a career game. Shooting, scoring, passing and defending one of the top ACC players

Sheppard also did her best to get that third foul on Hidalgo in the first half, and I think the refs could have called it a couple times.

Maul is my usual MVP as she is the rock, but Sheppard certainly earned it this game.

hats off to Hidalgo too. I haven't seen a player that aggressive and attacking on offense and defense all game.

And of course Lulu our leader had another great game offensively

Love it when a role player makes huge plays in critical times, and Lola certainly did that today.

In her second game back, Claudia contributed, especially with Naya not matching up well.

Of course every person and injury is different, but I've had bad ankle sprains from the exact same thing (jumping and landing on someone's foot with you ankle going sideways)

Super painful and could take a long time to return to play basketball, but she got up pretty fast and could hobble for which is a good sign, because you ain't doing that after the worst sprains.

Big win!

I wonder if Louisville's #9 also got injured. She's a starter that only played 6 minutes.

10 for 14 on threes is insane. If we go 6 for 14, a more than respectable 42%, we lose.

The other thing which jumped out at me from the stats was ND got called for 25 fouls, Cal just 9. That's fine with me since I thought ND was playing unreasonably roughly. Interesting tidbit - 5 of ND's 6 players finished with 4 fouls, the 6th had 5.

Really tough to lose Taylor. At the end she was sitting with a giant boot on one foot and a pair of crutches. Hope that's just precautionary. We need her - in her absence Mjracle, Lulu, and Gisella played 118 minutes.

Out of necessity we played two posts at times. IMHO that didn't go too well against ND's quickness. Nice to see solid minutes from Lola.

Overall a big win. Every ACC win is an accomplishment.

... Very solid game - game balls to Mjiracle and Lola.

And Lulu and Gisella. Great balance tonight!

notre dame attendance: 2357 (wowza, that's beyond breaking bad when students are back in school)

it's outdated (and delusional) marketing to think that just winning will magically bring fans to haas pavilion on gamedays, the men's team is a solid 15-6 (and a remarkable 13-2 at home with a powder puff non conference schedule) yet it's currently 17th in the acc in attendance (with an abysmal average of 3,970) only ahead of stanford
https://theacc.com/stats.aspx?path=mbball&year=2025

and the women's team also got similar dysfunctional attendance woes despite a marketable superstar in australian lulu twidale which is a shame...last nite's FUN victory drew a pathetic 2357 against a national brand franchise program in notre dame, why is no-one held accountable within the athletic department??...the wnba valkyries averaged 18,064 this season so there's documented evidence of wild demand for women's basketball in the bay area that's currently untapped in berkeley

back in the cal monster class era we averaged 10,000+ on men's gamedays with frequent SOLD OUT roaring at haas EPIC gamedays!!

and here's the deal NOTHING is gonna change until chancellor lyons terminates the contracts of the worthless bureaucrats (both paid just south of $500,000 on an annual basis with no football responsibilities despite a financial tsunami heading towards berkeley) jay larson & jennifer simon-o'neil (who is truly evil as **** & hated both internally by the athletic department staff & donors for her malfeasance)

drawing fans & growing the student fanbase will require ENERGY & a focused targeted marketing plan in today's fiercely competitive 6 second economy, there's a ZERO chance that's gonna happen with the 2 current *****tards (who aggressively worked against the football program with general knowlton's protections, neither one of them is a berkeley grad) running the show

rich, is haas pavilion your palace?????????????????????

A lot of the free throws were at the end when they were intentionally fouling us.

I also note that despite the boot and crutches, Taylor B. didn't seem upset. Let's hope for an ankle sprain or something; she is so solid and mature.

In the postgame press conference, Charmin said Taylor has an ankle sprain. Waiting to hear more. And she's hoping that "she (Taylor) can get ready for Sunday."

So, not doom and gloom. Maybe she misses the Louisville game as a further precaution and is ready to go on the road trip next week. <Sigh of relief>. We need her in the lineup going forward!

Now, if we could only get Puff back too.

Additional presser observations:
anytime a player has a successful game, and the media asks them about it, they respond with a gracious answer about their teammates - this has been a trend all season. To me, it shows the true sense of commitment and community that the coaching staff has fostered over the years. It's very nice to see.

Also, at the end of the presser Charmin spoke from the heart, and delivered a very important ( imho) message.

Yes, a VERY important message.

Aside from sports, a coach's role is to attempt to mold and shape a player to become more aware, more impactful. Charmin saying what she said, unprompted, says a lot about her.

I see this related to your comments about commitment to team and to community - yes, you are there for your teammates on the court. But more importantly, do you have that same commitment off the court? And also speak out and take action when it is warranted. I think so.

So yes, I want to see the Bears win every time they step on the court. But looking at the bigger picture, the effect and impact a coach can make in real-life areas is truly huge in the players' lives and can be larger than the sport.

Thanks for bringing these points up.

Facts!
Charmin has always lead by example.

Just saw that Notre Dame beat Stanford handily and Hidalgo scored 37. Reminded me about Charmin's comment at the press conference that she recruited Mjracle to defend Hidalgo.
