My apologies.

I guess I assumed that she was well-known in the Bay Area from her time as a Cal student leading cheers at football and basketball games, her association with the Pac-12 Network as well as her local radio career.

Go Kate!!

Also, her Dad was really cool and posted here for a lot of years. He may still but my recollection of his handle escapes me at the moment.

yes! There he is, glad to hear from you Scottski. This reminds me of back when Kate was still leading the crowd and I was working on the field for games and she and I would bump into each other (literally sometimes) and we quickly assess the game to that point. Then online I'd bump into you and we sometimes chat. Shoot I even joined your fantasy league baseball that one season.

Like I said, great to hear from you here and perhaps you'll put your fatherly Cal hat back on and visit during the season. Give a shoutout to Kate from the BearInsider crew.

Absolutely, Will DO !! I've kinda missed chatting with everyone, but time marches on, our interests change, blah, blah, blah ! No excuses. And great to hear you and she had some "moments' at those great Tedford-Era games. He came back to HIS alma mater and mine, Fresno State and revitalized a flailing program.

And the missus and I haven't seen those Sierra parks since the girls were little!! Clovis has grown just a tad. Now with 5 high schools, soon a 6th... over 120K citizens, and STILL a great place to raise a family. Plus, we have a pretty new and very well populated Senior Activity Center with a 4 table billiard room and tons of classes. I am the ... ahem... self-appointed sunshine committee for our Wednesday open-chess get together! Retirement is treating me and us well ! Now if we can just get that youngest daughter to start sharing some of those "millions' she is SURELY making (!), we'll be Reaally set !!!

riight, thanks wvit. but the General is nearly an hour's leisurely cruise further south from the north park entrance; many times we've visited both. we've also watched faint/faraway central valley fireworks from a western facing overlook not too far from the General on the Fourth (be with you)

for many years sequoia / kings canyon parks were our summertime happy place. on one occasion, after the usual day hikes, cruising back down a twisty mountain, a funny thing happened: dodge van's steering "worm gear" snapped, shooting us out of control towards a cliff. but luckily DMV's railing bounced us back on the road. "Three Rivers" aaa towing service fixed it, after <mumble> leisurely days thumbing around the park.

We went to both trees a couple of years ago. Stayed in the lodge by General sherman. Quite a hike down there. Or maybe back.

Of all the car problems I've had in 60 years of driving none topped total loss of steering. One came close: when I was 16 a power steering hose on my 1958 Chrysler blew out. The windshield was covered with opaque hydraulic fluid so I had to steer the 5000 lb car off the freeway with no power and my head sticking out of the window.

Just a few years later I was braking hard in my Renault R8 and the driver's seat broke loose from the floor. Fortunately I am tall and the car was short so I could keep my foot on the brake while basically sitting in the back seat.

What a pleasure to finally get a job and be able to buy a presentable car!
