Decent crowd. They're def working on crowd hype.
So far we haven't seen Anna, Carly, Anastasia and Sofia. 9 have played so far. Down 23-16, 3 to go in the half
On the radio, they said that we shot 24% and 0-9 on threes for the half.
It's an exhibition…meanwhile good crowd and nice views.
Crowd with some nice team posters too. Seems like a fair number of students. Folks having fun.
Sofia Was hitting most of her 3s in halftime warmups

Barnes looks taller, stronger, athletic and confident with the ball
Is she being more aggressive on the offensive end?
thanks for any updates you're able to share. signed, stuck at home bear
I said Anna Lagonikiki earlier but was mistaken
She's Albina Jevovic (6-4 C freshman from Serbia)

Valkyries repped tonight too here at Haas. Bears definitely borrowing some Ballhalla hype efforts. Nice job.
Perkins 4 for 4 from line cuts lead to 7. 41-34 with 4:31 left in 3rd.
UCLA radio announcers are saying nice things about Ruby Perkins.

She is scrappy and has a midrange game, something I wish our other players develop
End of 3Q - Cal was closing but ucla ran up 7 quick points…. Besides Betts they have a good guard
Perkins is playing well. Bears looked better. Definitely working out the kinks. (Ballhalla East Bay)
Anastasia in
Maul with her signature tough basket and 1

Low TO's (only 10), but tough opening shooting night.
Ruby with 15 and Lulu 13…finally hit a couple 3s.
UCLA hitting a bunch of open 3s off of kickouts
UCLA has some good shooters ( no surprise).

I think Lulu hit 3 threes in second half
UCLA freshman guard Okafor is a very good player…. Probably ucla's second best behind Betts
87-53 at the buzzer
Cal needs to find some shooters and finish their bunnies

About 4000 fans attended today per coach
In retrospect, it probably wasn't a great idea to play an opening exhibition against the #13th-ranked team in the country before our team has had a chance to jell against actual competition. And now on to the #3 ranked team and JuJu Watkins.
We don't play them until late December. They had JuJu last year and we almost (and should have) defeated them. I think having 4k at Haas for an exhibition is not a bad thing.

The USC exhibition game is October 25 in LA
Ooops. Sorry. Mixed up the Chase event when we played them last season. We play Nebraska this time. At any rate, it's all good. I think players will benefit regardless.
Wasn't Juju out all of last year? They had Jazzy Davidson and Kennedy Smith
UCLA was bigger, much stronger, and shot much better. They're good.
Mjracle didn't play, hope she's OK soon.
Of the newcomers Ruby looked by far the best. She's very quick and skilled, great for a freshie. Our two posts Albina and Jovana need more strength. Albina started and played more minutes but to me Jovana looked quicker and smoother. Zara didn't play much and neither Carly nor Anna played at all. Shannon is certainly athletic but wasn't too effective tonight.
At the end Charmin thanked the supposedly 4000 in attendance and promised we'd see a different team in November.

As well they should.
"Don't get distracted, myself. Don't get distracted." Self-talk from a young relative
what a painful game, UCLA's 3pt percentage was impressive..

Nice photos, CalWSportsFan. I'm in one of them, probably posting to this very thread.

Fun to see all of the new Bears. The team is still trying to develop chemistry. Played better in the second half.
UCLA is a very good and an experienced team. It was good to play against them to see how we measure up.
Our threes were just not falling. I'm very impressed with Ruby Perkins. She's going to be a star at Cal. She has no fear as a freshman. Very adept at running the offense. Very good free throw shooter too.
Charmin will need to rely on her at the point until Mjracle returns.
Go Bears!!

now I mixed the names ... I think the player I was seeing was Albina Syla, 6-4 junior from Finland. it's going to take me a bit to learn the players and their names
