Washington State has opened a 40-0 lead on Idaho with 6 minutes to go in the first half. Idaho has 17 TO's and no assists. Have to say that WSU is looking very good, and this year has a deeper bench with their new foreign recruits.

Didn't pay to see the UCLA-North Carolina game. But was surprised to see that Fields was allowed to put up 24 shots in this loss. Thought that Close would try to play a more balanced offense with all of the new talent. Canada had 8 TO's, so there is work to do.

Yikes, didn't think it was possible for a worse start after the Maryland-Wagner game today. I was proven wrong.

Continuing to scratch my head with 5 freshman, a 18 loss season, and a top 25 ranking to start the season.

Is WSU that good or Idaho that bad? My guess more on the Idaho side!

Idaho finally found the basket. Final score - 84-34. This turned into the Galdeira/Presley show, with those two scoring a combined 53. May have spoken a bit too soon on their foreign recruits. The four who saw action went a combined 1-18 from the field.

NOT SO FAST, MY FRIEND.

WSU played Idaho STATE, not Idaho. There is considerable difference between the two.

The University of Idaho is THE major university in Idaho and is located in Moscow, Idaho, in northwest Idaho about 15 miles away from Washington border.

Some 10 hours drive away, is Idaho State University (considered well below the University of Idaho and Boise State University) located in Pocatello, Idaho in southeast Idaho.

I have been to both campuses and there is considerable difference.

I have had relatives graduate from The University of Idaho and they would be very unhappy if they were mistaken for Idaho State graduates.

Massive difference in WBB programs as well. Idaho State is mediocre even for the Big Sky Conference. Idaho on the other hand was the team that we only beat by 4 last year on a neutral court in Reno.

Is not 16 hours. 8 or 9 at the most. Had my car break down in Pocatello once. an engineering student patched me so I could get to Seattle.

OK. I changed it to 10 hours. If it is good weather and you have radar detector, you could do it in 9 hours. There are many occasions that the roads are icy/snowy or even closed and it is not safe to drive south from Moscow to Boise. On those occasions, you will have to go east from Moscow through Montana and then drop down south to eastern Idaho. On those occasions, it will take a lot longer than 9 or 10 hours. Sawtooth Mountains run right though Idaho creating some of the most fantastic sceneries and potential road challenges in winter. I almost got myself frozen to death and killed trying to drive through the Sawtooth Mountains in January around 25 years ago.

Just the person I want to talk to. We were at Craters of the moon in May and drove down thru Idaho Falls which was a lovely town. The year before, we flew into Spokane and rented a car and drove to Banff. Right up thru the Idaho Panhandle and came back and stayed in Sandpoint Idaho. was thinking of going up to the Sawtooth Mountains next May. Where is the can't miss spot cause I can miss it. would be coming up thru Utah. Went to Flaming gorge and Grand Tetons last time but might go up thru Salt Lake city this time.

Exactly-when you're trying to embarrass bball programs, for goodness sakes, get the name of the school correctly. Cal barely eeked out a win over Idaho last season.

GO BEARS!

Actually, we went thru Idaho Falls but the town we went thu that really impressed me was Twin Falls. i think Evil K did a jump there.

I have not visited Idaho State and hope I never have to because I have been to the University of Idaho and I must have missed something because WSU campus looks beautiful compared to U of Idaho, therefore, ISU must be a real dump. Plus, being out in the middle of nowhere, it's probably tough to recruit good players to Pocatello.

BTW, WSU has live bears on campus so they are obviously superior to any ID school. Interesting that the bear habitat is located near the WA/ID border. I guess if they bust out we know where they are headed,

wvitbear, here are a few of my favorite spots in Idaho:
1. Little Red Fish Lake (one of the most beautiful places in the world). I camped there for my birthday only to wake up with a surprise: ground full of snow outside my tent. By the way, my birthday is in August.
2. Red Fish Lake (yes, next to each other, but, I like them both that much).
3. Sun Valley ski area (Demi Moore still lives there).
4. Drive up from Idaho Falls to Stanley (1, 2 and 3 above are on your way or nearby), go through Sawthoots and make the circle back to Boise. Just don't do this drive in a winter storm.
4. Lava Hot Springs near Highway 15 between Pocaello and Salt Lake City, if you are into natural hot springs. Go in winter when you can get out of boiling hot water and roll in piles of snow next to it to cool off and then back to the hot water.
5. Drive north on the road from Boise toward Lewiston at least for an hour or two and check out the canyons and river.
6. Cour'de'lane (sp?) and the lake next to it are about five hours north of Boise (around an hour or two north of Moscow).
7. Snake River (anywhere that you run across it, but, the falls in Idaho Dalks are particularly nice).
8. Oregon Trail (anywhere that you run across it)
9. Any of the numerous ghost towns or old mining towns.
10. Bear Sanctuary around one hour north of Idaho Falls on the way to Yellowstone (this is a new one and I have not visited it myself).
NEARBY:
. THE most enchanted place on earth: Yellowstone National Park. Anything I say will not do justice to Yellowstone. I had been there 10 times and went back for 11th time this past summer. I saw at least four bears there (no, not the Cal alumni type, the four legged type).
. Grand Teton National Park (in Wyoming)
. Jackson Hole, Wyoming
. Helena, Montana
That is a long list, but you asked.

Go Bears, Beat the Trees!

I did a Sawtooth Mountains day trip out of Sun Valley. Some of the prettiest scenery I have seen. There is much more to Idaho than potatoes.
