Noticed that she eliminated Furd. I think that the Bears have a real good chance of landing Chou. Asian parents, particularly Chinese from the motherland, hold Cal with high esteem. Also, Chen Yue on our team is another positive. Maybe we get both Sabrina from Miramonte and Natalie.

Knowing the Asian culture, particularly the Chinese regarding education, my gut feeling TCU or Louisville is not as a high interest as the other 4 colleges. I'm not saying you can't get a great education from those 2 schools but they aren't as renowned as the others, particularly the #1 public university in the world!

The way I see it: both Duke & Louisville are loaded with good guards. EVERYONE ("and their mother," as the kids say) lists Louisville because that's just their recruiting style (very different from Cal, L'Ville casts a wiiiiiiide net). Find a top 7 list for any recruit that DOESN'T include Louisville, and I will be impressed, lol.
Texas might not even have room for her. I can't keep up with their roster availability. I even just found out they added one of the Canadian twins who transferred from Vandy while her twin sister apparently went to a JUCO with the expectation of joining Texas afterwards since they only had room for 1 at the moment!!! Bizarre, tbh. And Texas is DEFINITELY looking for bigs. They're in the hunt for Joyner Holmes as well as a few other big Texans who are ranked in the top 20-60.
Some room might have opened up at Baylor after a couple recent transfers, and they aren't as loaded at guard as the previous three schools. But I imagine the big reason for their inclusion is proximity. Same, of course, for TCU. She probably just likes them sentimentally and is giving them a shoutout by including them, lol. Can't argue she wouldn't have a lot of team success w/ Baylor while still getting plenty of action, considering the elite big they signed last year and all the talent in Texas to choose from to fill any remaining needs.
UCLA does have a few of the things going for them that have been mentioned in building the case for Cal. And in terms of position needs, they actually might slightly be more in need of Chou than us (some reasons for that being Recee Caldwell just left UCLA and Cal is rumored to be in good shape for Ionescu). But my intuition tells me overall we're a better fit for her of the two UC's.
Like I mentioned elsewhere, we may not be pursuing Higgins or Odom (not sure about Brown). So perhaps LG likes her chances with Ionescu and Chou that much, and thinks they're better fits for us.
That said, I know everyone has been saying our 2016 class will be "a couple" players only...but arguably we might need a big more than a guard at this point. I'm guessing we want Hebard and/or West for that. And if we indeed lead for Ionescu, and if Chou wants to come too, I can't imagine LG not being open to using up to 4 spots (given she they're for kids she really likes).

I hope the Anigwe-Chou-Ionescu Cal Gang can come together since the Rabb-Brown-Swanigan combo could not.

What about all the wonderful wings from California. We need to at least get one or two, ,they are too high in the rankings to pass them. Plus they are all very tall. I say we get one off guard, two wings and a four/five player.

Why not? What guard wouldn't want a 6'7" center on her team?

I know nothing, but one could speculate it's possible that Tudor gets offered IF Chou pick elsewhere?
OBear073akaSMFan;842511756 said:
Personally we should offer both and first to commit gets the offer!!
dfineguy;842511784 said:
I disagree. I know Tudor is a NorCal player and all that, but I think Chou has more overall skills. And having a commit from Texas opens up a huge pool of talent in the Lone Star State. If Cal was getting 2nd and 3rd looks from Texas' best, we begin to look like one of the national powers. Only Stanford from the Pac has ever been considered in that group. You have to go back to the Cheryl Miller USC teams to see another PAC10/12 team with that much national recognition.
To be able to really recruit nationally would give Cal entrance to the big time group we are on the verge of entering. Tudor is a good Plan B if Chou goes elsewhere. Or if Ionescu goes elsewhere. To have players like Joyner Holmes, Amber Ramirez or Ciera Johnson look seriously at coming to Berkeley changes how Cal is viewed nationally.
