So glad we got the win but it's a shame Mo didn't get to play.
I thought she played the last minute.

Cal won in OT after trailing by 20 in the third quarter.

Love it! What a game.

Beating U of A was the key to our getting into NCAA.

I think we can beat UW and WSU on the road, finish 9-9 in Pac-12 to guarantee us a NCAA bid.

Go Bears!

I never intended my question about TV coverage to become the game thread. But, anyway,

Huge, huge weekend. Now absolutely solidifies us in the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, I believe this takes any pressure off the very subpar coaching job this season and keeps an undeserving Coach G safe in the role. However, I'm just happy for a sweep! The seniors deserve nothing more.

Postgame video is great. Love to see this side of Forbes. I've been frustrated with her unwillingness to shoot and soft defensive effort, but she really stepped up tonight and this post game made me a huge fan of her. Torch being passed.

If we sweep next week we are a 7 seed in PAC 12 with a good match up with the 10 and then 2. That's not impossible for us: WSU and then Stanfurd? We'd have a chance of making the final.

Wow. A fun yet stressful weekend...Cal pulled out two games where they started off so slow and got down by big numbers...and while they can be obstinate on offense and have trouble with penetration on defense, they made up for it with grit and determination when it counted. CJ West's dive on the court (sacrificing her physical well-being) that got Cal a possession late in the game was huge and several grit plays on 50/50 balls by Asha and Kristine were also huge. Big 3s by Forbes, Smith and Caldwell. Not pretty, but these were "must" wins if Cal wants that at-large bid. Now they have two more "must" wins against the Washington teams...if they can get to 9-9 in conference and maybe get a win in the conference tournament, they should be in...but they need to be at the compete level of both second halves against the Arizona teams and not the flat Bears in the those first halves...NCAA wants stars in their tournament and historically they like Gottlieb. But they have to still earn with wins.

Mo did play the last few seconds when Thomas fouled out. CJ got her face planted on that dive for the ball and never returned. Might have had a concussion but was bleeding from either her nose or mouth.

Was a great game and an end to a great home schedule.

2-14 on threes in the first half. 10-14 on threes in the second. Forbes leads the way with the game on the line.

CJ appeared for the postgame ceremony honoring the seniors. I didn't talk to her but she looked OK. My guess is she got a bloody nose diving for a loose ball which ended up in our possession. She was great today.

Anyway what a fantastic effort after a brutal 2nd quarter - at one point we gave up 22 consecutive points. We would have won in regulation if we had hit a few more free throws but I'll sure take the win as is!

The game wrapup by pearbear quotes Coach G: "... The way that CJ West lost her teeth diving on the floor is because she cares about these seniors and this program ..."

that game was HUGE

we could not hit a shot in the first half, even with plenty of wide open looks

down 19 points and their PG causing all kinds of havoc

but starting with recee's buzzer beating half time shot started our slow struggle to get back into the game ... seemed excruciatingly painful through the 3rd quarter

recee and CJ made huge plays in the 3rd, fighting for every point and every possession ... at one point it was showtime with Recee, but we were also in foul trouble ...

then in the fourth, there was all kinds of fire works .... KA was fighting like a tiger for every ball and then Forbes went crazy from the arc

we got to within 4, but seemly couldn't close any more

I don't even remember what happened in the closing minutes, except Recee's bomb from the corner, Forbes with the earth shaking 3s, and CJ diving to get the possession for Cal. That play very well was the difference .... not only did we get the ball, but it fired everyone up as they saw how CJ just gave up her body to dive for that ball ... I was really worried because she got smashed by the other player, and she stayed down face down for so long ... from the post game interview, sounds like she got some teeth bashed in ... hope she is ok

then AZ missed one of two FTs, leaving the door open for Cal to take it in regulation. But KA also missed the first FT. The entire game was on the line then, but she swished her second. From where I was sitting, AZ's desperation heave looked like it was going in

then in OT, we won the tip and slowly got a lead. Missed FTs however kept AZ in the game, but their super PG tried to do too much and had several turnovers and misses

KA fouled out. Asha fouled out (not before she hit 2-2 FTs) and Mo came in to defender their PG. She did a good job of defending her shot without fouling, and the game was over

whew

the post game senior ceremony was great for the team and the fans ... loved the highlight videos of each senior

Recee's step back move shows what a weapon that move can be. She is not a real threat to drive, and yet natural human instincts cause defenders to fall for that move in spite of themselves. Whoever taught Recee that move just won us a couple of games.

I see that move from Asha as well - it's a thing of beauty. And I think all the more effective because both can and do drive.

Another move I'd like to see more is a midrange pullup. Mikayla Cowling had that one down.

Larry Bird probably drove to the basket all of the way from the outside only a couple of times in his entire career. But he got his three point shot off with that move over and over, game after game.

It really is too bad how underutilized she has been.

love the step back, and have mentioned that some of the men should use it

I've only seen sueing and bradley use it on rare occasion
McNeil and Paris should work on it

but back to WBB, I don't agree that Recee is not a threat to drive. Yes, she doesn't have the quickness to just take a defender off the bounce, but she is a crafty ball handler, and excellent at hesitation moves. I actually think she is our best driver on the team
