Just wondering if anyone has an idea as to who they think will make a roster spot that wasn't drafted in tonights WNBA draft.

I was thinking possibly Meme Jackson from Tennessee because she, like Ogunbowale, can create her own shot and catch fire at any time. Then Hallie Thome from Michigan who was gaining attention after a stellar junior year and was invited to the U-23 national team camp.

No Mariya Moore U$C? Thought she would be picked in the later rounds.

It's pretty much very hard even for players that are drafted to make a WNBA roster, let alone someone who wasn't. Whether you make a roster isn't just determined by how well you do in training camp, because many players have done well and not been kept. For someone who was not drafted, it will probably take at least one outstanding or several good seasons overseas for them to get the rep to get a spot. Basketball people know that anyone can have a hot couple of weeks and then totally disappear. At least they should know that.

A more realistic question would be who that was drafted in the latter half of the draft that might make the roster.

The fact that Jackie Young -- who cannot shoot -- was the No. 1 overall pick tells you about the judgment made on this year's crop.

Of course there will be surprises and some low pick will eventually become a starter, and an undrafted player will make a rotation, but remember that there are only 12 teams and only about 100 players are on the court on a regular basis. If each team loses one player to retirement or injury, not only do this year's draftees compete among themselves for those spots, so do all the other players who are now in Europe and have been playing professionally for years.

Even if you up the number to two players per team, you still only have 24, and that's a pretty small number given the very large pool of potential players.
