S71 has been posting here for years. I do not know if this is your first exposure to him. His posts are incisive and cut to the chase, and yes, sometimes a bit harsh. But it is his style, and he dearly loves Cal sports, especially when you consider he is a UCSB grad and has adopted us. I just worry that the backlash will cause us to lose him and his posting at some point. I certainly agree with you that a much better word than "pathetic" could/should have been used. I suggest you watch his posting over time and see that it matters not which sport it is, he will tell it like it is. When good things happen for players and Cal his excitement is great. Conversely, when we cut on expectations he will hold our feet to the fire. I doubt he has a nasty bone in his body with regards to Cal and players. I, like I guess you, wish he would be a bit more careful with words.
