She will have 3 seasons of eligibility left, as last year didn't count against the clock. A big pickup for Crosson at outside, as Meyer has graduated early and is transferring to Georgetown as a grad transfer to play for their team while pursuing her master's, as she stated on Insta

I did not know Meyer was also gone. Sigh.

Guess Schmidt will take over her front-row role now. IMO, she is better than Meyer, as the latter was inconsistent despite finishing strong this past season

but isn't Mirkovic still returning ? How about the status of Katie Smoot? Hopefully they will be on the team next year!

Mirkovic will be back next season, which is good, yet I still don't know about Smoot's decision. See this thread for more: https://bearinsider.com/forums/5/topics/101273

I understood Potter and Houghton are not coming back. And didn't calbears4ever speculate about Blevins?

I would expect with the team's performance last year there would be considerable turnover.

It was not so long ago that I used to go to watch a very competitive Cal team. The program has been a bad slide. It was strange watching a school like Kentucky win a NCAA championship in what used to be a California dominated sport (with due recognition to Penn State) .

I agree. But we are getting Mirkovic back, and to my knowledge, everyone besides Potter, Houghton, and Meyer are staying, even though Smoot and Blevins' statuses are uncertain. The addition of Schmidt will most certainly keep Cal out of the cellar and possibly earn them a spot in the NCAA tournament

I hope you're right, but there's a big gap between out of the cellar and making the tourney.
Any word on '22 commitments? They usually commit early relative to November LOI day.

I think Cal has a good chance of making the tourney with Mirkovic back in the starting lineup next to Pantovic, Lilomaiava, Grote, Bergmark, and DeSa, with the setter position likely to be a battle between Jensen and Maeder. The main concern is keeping their starters healthy, as injuries have been one of the primary reasons for barely missing the tourney or falling into the cellar, which was the case the past two seasons.

Our '22 recruits so far are Peyton DeJardin, Mikayla Hayden, and Sophie Scott

If Both Smoot and Mirkovic are playing this season it is a completely unrecognizable team. Anxiously awaiting confirmation on Smoot.

Agreed. Having Smoot in the mix will make them a dark horse

Thanks! Seems to add some needed size; I appreciate the recruiting scoop.

Yeah, but Mirkovic is 5'11, which is undersized for an outside hitter. she is however very skilled as you know. This is why skill is often > size

100 % agree. I know a lot of examples of very good players who are astonishingly small. Even tho I tend to do more horse betting over https://www.horsebetting.com/au/ than basketball betting I always liked the playing style of Mirkovic and I bet we will see more fabolous games with her.
Ah yes

Makana graduating in 3 years and transferring to Georgetown

Impact?

Yeah I knew, she'll be sorely missed. Schmidt will be a good replacement for her, as she is more consistent stat-wise than Meyer ever was. Since Meyer wasn't a starter, the impact of losing her will not be as big as losing Anderson/Forte a year ago
