I don't see the 400 medley relay as finished. If so, what are the final points for tonight?
Has been updated will also update my post above with splits!

Cal leads 320.5 - Texas 313. Delay due to review of heat 2 reaction time (Mizzou called for a DQ).

Day 4 Prelims

Lasco, Carr and Bryce Mefford return to the A final of the 200 back, with Colby Mefford in the B final.

Bjorn is the top seed in the A final of the 100 free. Reece returns to the 200 breaststroke A final, leading Louser, Bell and Gonzalez in the B final.

Julian and Jett headline the A heat of the 200 fly final. Dare Rose returns for a second swim in the B final.

Not counting diving or the mile, Cal is up 7/5 vs Texas 4/2.

The 100 sprint group swam slower than expected, but others swim great. Colby Mefford swam great back half to reach PR. If he improves his front half, he would be as good as his brother. There's still a mile, diving, and 4x100 relay, but unless UT scores all top positions, Cal has enough points to win.

Cal has 7 Up, 5 down going into the final session with Grieshop a possible point earner in the 1650. Texas was 4 Up 2 Down this morning but have 2 Up 1 Down seeds in the 1650.

Scoring the events via prelim seeds Cal should have a 60 point margin before taking into account the 1650 and diving. Platform is the Horn's strongest diving event with three entries, including the diver that finished 9th last year in the event. We should know if the Bears have to sweat after Platform prelims.

My apologies to the 5th Y swimmers. Thought they were not swimming as well this yr! 3 out of 4 has made the 'A' group today. Will Grieshop be in the 1650?. I know he was a invitee. WIth out them no way we would be in the position that we are in now. Go Bears!

What happened with UTs diving?? Everybody on here was afraid they would score 90-100 pts in diving. They 've scored 16? Only.
Did they lose a top diver?

I believe a 5th yr diver and a defending champ was suspended due to some sexual accusation.

Not even 16 points... they've only had one diver score 7 points.

Texas' diver Windle was a returning 5th year athlete that scored 52 points last year. He placed 1st in 1M, 2nd in 3M and 4th in platform in 2021 making him the 4th highest individual scorer last year. He was temporarily suspended by SafeSport in December and will thus miss NCAAs. This significantly reduces the diving deficit this year but it'll still be a dog fight.

The news reports suggest Texas grad diving ace, Jordan Windle was sending pics of his junk to minors. Eddie Reece would probably have him diving but an outside compliance and safety organization forced his suspension.
Texas has only scored 7 diving point so far, but the final diving event is platform, their strongest event.
Stay tuned for prelim results.

Everyone qualified for potential points that needed to so now they just need to perform tonight. Freshman Gabriel Jett surprised and qualified for the A final in the 200 butterfly when he only had the 16th fastest time. I feel positive about tonight!

This is my first post here.

As a CAL MBB fan***, I'm still suffering after yet another dismal season.
Next year looks to be worse if anything. Watching the NCAA Tournament is painful. It's
like watching another sport.

Given the above, CAL contending for national championship in swimming is somewhat
other-worldly.

***A sense of humor is a requirement

GO BEARS!!!!
If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one-night stand
If there's a rock and roll heaven
Well you know they've got a hell of a band

bearup-welcome! You have discovered my way of coping with the decline of the men's football team as well as mens and womens basketball in recent years. Cal is strong in many non-revenue sports. Earlier this year Cal won the men's national water polo crown. Today the men's swimming has a legit shot. Rugby is a national power under the tutelage of Jack Clark. Today at noon Cal (#1) faces St Marys (#2) on tv. Many women's sports are competitive on a national stage, too. The women's gymnastics is trying to place in the top five right now. The women's water polo team is ranked 4th. The women's tennis team has a shot this season, too. Both crew teams are strong. Women's swimming slipped to 8th place last week and finished out of the top five for the first time in 15 years. Keep your eye on Cal softball under 2nd year coach Chelsea Spencer-they are on the rise, again. Two other women's sports that have a shot is soccer (last season's #1 recruit class) and the newer sport of beach volleyball. Men's golf has been a national player on multiple occasions, too, in the past.

One more point-I really enjoy tracking the various recruiting classes for these different sports. GO BEARS!

Reading the comments made by the peanut gallery on swimswam Tx has 2 divers on platform but only 1 is a legitimate A scorer.

Can anyone identify who some of the Bears are? One in the middle background with the hat kind of looks like Nathan Adrian! Former Bears always show up to support their Bears!

L-R: Kyle Millis ('22), Ethan Young ('20), Karl Arvidsson ('20), behind Karl is Connor Hoppe ('18), Nick Silverthorn ('18), and Michael Jensen ('20)

Millis, Young, Arvidsson, and Jensen were all on the 2019 National Championship team. Millis is a current senior on the team, and Young and Arvidsson have several All American honors awarded for the pandemic NCAA meet that was cancelled.

Jensen was a part of several relay national titles, and Hoppe is part of the current American Record holding Cal 200 Medley Relay. Both were on the 2019 USA World University Games team.

S71 I feel exactly the way you do. I've given up on FB and Men's hoops. Whoops too. I've gotten info from a trusted source that out all Pac-10 freshman women's pg is gone.baby.gone. So hate on me some more you dastardly Cal Whoops fans. Anyway Cal swimming is a joy to follow, and actually is able to recruit 2-4 top 20 swimmers almost every year. We got the #1 swimmer for 2022, Tan? Things are Golden for any of the water related sports.

Texas 1D on the boards. Their second diver was 41st.

Current standings: Cal 7/5, Texas 4/3. Mile heats to come in the next 1/2 hour ish, with Kopp in heat 1 and Grieshop in heat 2.
