Softball Releases 2024 Schedule - California Golden Bears Athletics (calbears.com)

If I counted correctly, it appears that there is 29 non-conference and 24 conference games on the schedule for a total of 53.

In OOC action, two games at Louisville, two games w/ Georgia at Stanford and a three games series vs Loyola Marymount in Berkeley appear to be formidable matchups. It's purely speculation on my part because teams can change materially from one year to the next (especially with the new transfer portal available). The point that I was attempting to make was that 22 out of the 29 non-conference contests appear competitive and winnable.

This is a much tougher non-conference schedule compared to previous years.

We'll have a huge test right out of the gate. If you recall, McNeese nearly knocked off Washington in the regional final last year. Louisiana is a potential Super Regional team. We'll be tested come conference play.

Sorry-McNeese State did not register in my mind as a top softball team. I'll visit UDub's website to refresh my memory. I don't know how good LMU is but they have earned postseason births recently.

No need to apologize! I'm just impressed with the schedule, we are going to be challenged early and often throughout the season. Especially the pitching.

I hope that you're correct, Cal Fanatic! We don't know if the Bears have enough hitting, defense or pitching to accomplish a record like that...Also, Cal has a restructured coaching staff this season. It should be enjoyable finding out in 2024. GO BEARS!

Excellent predictions. One change... we will beat The furds twice since we are playing at home. I know Stanford has the stud pitcher but all three games last year were close games with us winning once!

After attending fall ball games, I am not worried about our hitting or pitching. I am definitely worried about our defense. We didn't look good fielding in any of the games I saw. Roelling struck out 6 in a row after we committed 3 straight errors against St. Mary's. You love that your pitcher can do that but... you don't want her to feel the need!

I Agree 100% with this projection. Last year I predicted 50 wins, inc. a WCWS Appearance GTFOH! NOW, If RR has a Thorson type freshman year, ( 28-4 0.67 era) then all bets are off!
