The ACC league is tough!! Hate it to lose so badly at home. Need to really pursue more elite pitchers. Of course..easier said than done. It's all about the $$$ these day.

On Saturday, Cal continues some of the most boneheaded play that I have ever witnessed. Elon Butler leads off the B1st with a walk and Lagi Quiroga sacrifice bunts her to second base. Butler continues to go to third base and is thrown out standing up. The ball was waiting for her twenty feet from the bag. The Bear base runner attempted to argue with the ump that there was no path for her to slide (I think). Why can't the coaching staff teach these players not to commit some of these ridiculous mistakes that continue to keep on giving to their opponents?

In the B2nd, Cal loads the bases on two singles and a walk with two outs, bringing up Elon Butler to possibly do some damage. Butler is called out of strikes with 3-2 count for a time violation. This was the Bear's big chance to compete in this ball game and Elon was called out without swinging the bat. This is the second time that I have seen her not get in the batter's box this season for this violation. Why are the coaches not teaching their players not to embarrass themselves as well as the program? Why have they sac bunted their best hitters in each of the first 2 innings to move the runner up a base when they know that Va Tech will score a lot of runs? Lagi Quiroga bunted in the 1st and Mika Lee popped up a bunt in the second, giving away the out.

This was Butler's second major mental mistake in the initial two innings of this game. I'm outta here.

cal made lots of errors on defense, and the one clock violation on offense in a critical situation

agree I thought it was odd that two of our best hitters bunted in those situations

the replay at home base was unfortunate. I was sitting directly behind the plate and thought it was a clear out, but I was also sitting directly behind the replay ref so saw him review the play frame by frame, and yeah, runner was safe

we loaded the bases again late in the game, but couldn't score

their pitcher was an ace and threw hard and with good control, although we did hit on her fairly well with 3 shots landing just before the fence

Basically we were out played by a very strong VT team

We got one more shot at VT in the senior game

This is what I have been saying the entire season. Based on how we are performing in most sports, I think we should have stayed in Pac 2. lol, just kidding.

Here at LFF for senior day. Pond just launched one over the RF fence and Cal is up 3-0. Only 6 outs for us to go.

Teperson pitching a gem

3 outs away from our second top 15 upset in two weeks.

Huge Senior Day upset led by our seniors! If we can sweep Syracuse next week, we'll finish 35-18 the exact same record as last year. This season has definitely felt tougher, especially with some of the big blowout losses, but honestly, I'm happy with that record. Great job, Bears!

Senior Annabel Teperson shuts out Va Tech, 4-0, on Senior Day. Kaylee Pond reached base three straight times with two hits and a walk. Congratulations, Cal!!!

I'm glad to see Annabelle get to shut out. I had predicted she would win 16 or 17 games this year unfortunately it didn't happen. Coach Spencer wanted to give the ball to the freshman which is not surprising but the other senior P was disappointing too.

I'm holding off on calling the season disappointing until we see how we perform in our regional.

I'd love to see us reach a regional final and give some of these young players valuable experience ahead of the strong 2025 class coming in.

Fingers crossed!

You know what I wouldn't even mind if we go to the UCLA regional to start off the playoffs. Be nice to knock them off. As long as it's not the regional with Najaree or Oklahoma.

You know what I wouldn't even mind if we play in the UCLA regional. Don't really want to play in the regional with c a n a d y or Oklahoma. Would be nice to knock off if fucla.

meanwhile the baseball team has lost 13 acc games in a row plus an outta conference game yesterday to usf, this program has burned thru all the stu gordon fundraised "save baseball" dollars & should be shuttered for good as a cost savings measure & evans diamonds "sold" to the central campus to buy down the astronomically mounting athletic department cumulative debt load

the MAGIC of cal softball (would shine brighter with a new 3rd base coach)#
