2024 president's cup at royal montreal blue: 2nd day update

ben an & his teammate si woo won a point for the international team...ben is a BOSS MAN internally hitting a drive over the lake on the inside of the dog left left par 4 18th hole knowing on the tee box it's a 300+ yards carry over the water hazard!!

max homa played with a usa teammate that couldn't drive the ball straight or make a putt today, that's golf

collin morikawa didn't have his a game, let's see what happens tomorrow in montreal

weird coaching decision: in foursomes (alternate shots) one player tees off on all the odd numbered holes & the other player tees off on all the even numbered holes...in that all of the blue course's par 3s are on odd numbered holes it's kinda bizarre that the decision wuz not made to have the elite iron ball striking morikawa playing the odd numbered holes

VT's staple play is the jet sweep, with the TE sealing and the WR on that side taking the coverage long. Faking it gets the DL going sideways opening up holes for the RB inside or bouncing outside the other way.

The Jet would be great on a jet sweep with Ott in the backfield.

Now a quick pitch….

miami hurricanes 38
virginia tech hokies 34

defensively miami got athletes but they tackle poorly & lack discipline...virginia tech exploited them with their physical 2 tight end sets & PITCHOUTS in the run game which wuz facilitated by their wideouts, tight ends & even quarterback BLOCKING en route to 206 yards on the ground

offensively qb1 cameron ward passed for 343 yards in the hurricanes weather channel thunder attack but also threw the ball up for grabs a half a dozen times, the TAKERS gotta capitalized on those opportunities

fun fact: former elite rb1 damien martinez since moving from corvallis to south beach has gained weight & lost a step

the #7 ranked unbeaten 5-0 canes are blowing into memorial stadium next saturday nite at 7:30 pm, honestly unless ur incarcerated or destitute (maybe living under a bridge or something) getting to berkeley (and not posting on a gameday thread) is the move...this is a winnable game for our california golden bears!!

6956's 3.8 gpa son is NOT a dumb azz (particularly the dating the curvy brunette yoga female part)!!

but the schools such as irvine & cal poly & so forth are very good (certainly not in the same lower division academic league as oregon) but not internationally recognized ELITE institutions like cal, stanford & the ivy leagues

fun fact: the average high school gpa for the oregon football program is south of a 2.75 gpa & 95% of these ducks will never earn a single dollar playing football in the nfl but they will be well positioned someday to transition to the coos bay flying beaver convenience store/truck stop supervisor training program before they marry a lot lizard with cfm pumps before eventually dying a slow painful death from incurable stds

fun fact duex: if the cal and oregon football programs switched players 80% of the current ducks would be on academic probation within their 1st semester in berkeley & two thirds of the players would flunk out within a year

go ducks!! (broken nfl/nike employment promises in the drizzly azz northwest ensuring a **** future)#

Shocky, I know you are trying to help recruit athletes to Cal and that a top flite college degree has got great value (even just for one's own confidence, in my case) but you've got an entire generation, Z, now being referred to as the Toolbelt Generation for a variety of complex and very relevant reasons. I'd like to see Cal fans be smarter about recruiting to Cal and not use the academic put down of other schools as a primary one. Just my own pet peeve, btw. I do appreciate your enthusiasm.

82, honestly think ur misunderstanding my intentions/motivations for cal's monster class which is a celebration of academic achievement in berkeley & a love letter to cal athletics, this brand wuz created back in the day with content guidance from my then high school daughters shay & taylor to convey to prospective high school recruits the fact that gpas & ELITE education degrees will be among the MOST IMPORTANT factors in determining one's future economic position in life

this is not a shtick, shocky don't got time for that bull****, he got way ******* better things to do with his time

the monster is opposed to the overly woke lies that u can go to college anywhere & achieve all ur dreams in life which simply is NOT true the vast majority of the time (there will always be exceptions), it's that kinda bad bunny thinking that resulted in the 2023 running back trio of chris street (utah tech), damien moore (fresno state/lamar) & ashton hayes (nevada) throwing away berkeley degrees for degrees that will lead to them living in broken down apartments or living with moms when they turn 30....they have made CHOICES & now they're pretty much ******

the truth of the matter is that cal, stanford & ivy league grads gotta 60 yard headstart in the 100 yard race of life, got it?

shocky believes in the redistribution of wealth thru educational opportunities for those that are the 1st in their families to graduate from college at ELITE universities such as cal, stanford & the ivy leagues & so forth if the are willing to do the HARD work in these hallowed classrooms

REREAD the following 100% accurate statement, the cal & oregon football programs are vastly different programs, instead of pretending this is NOT the case u should be crying for the exploited futures of the ducks (the majority who had high school gpas south of 2.75 & 95% of them will never earn a dollar playing in the nfl) disposable gladiators that will be entering the REAL WORLD with scary azz futures

fun fact deux: if the cal and oregon football programs switched players 80% of the current ducks would be on academic probation within their 1st semester in berkeley & two thirds of the players would flunk out within a year

and every word of this is ******* TRUE

I agree that Cal and Oregon are vastly different programs. They are also vastly different schools. Cal is recruiting mostly players that have at least a fighting chance at graduating from the #1 public University. Oregon has made a concious choice to be really good at football. They believe it has helped their enrollment numbers and provide visibility to what is otherwise just another below average to average state school.

These players with below 2.75 GPAs deserve a chance at a college degree and pursue their dreams of playing NFL football. No doubt many will not do either. But that is their choice. Cal is not recruiting many players that also have Oregon offers. The unfortunate reality is many of the truly top football players have not taken their academics seriously ever. They have gotten by being great football players. And many of the degrees they earn if they do will not provide great income opportunities.

I am 100% for Cal continuing their pursuit of the more highly academically qualified players to come to Cal and play ball and graduate. I agree we should celebrate the academic acheivements of those that do come. It does make life very difficult for the staff. When Cal gets a commitment from a potentially great player with the requisite academic qualifications to succeed here (on and off the field) it is hard to watch the lower light academic schools (but football powers) swoop in and try and flip the player.

But Cal has a staff of coaches, advisors and others to help counsel the player on what Cal offers. And that is substantial. The job as a Cal football staffer is hard. But that is the job. They have tools to succeed. The other REAL WORLD thing is these kids with 2.75 (or lower) GPAs are not getting into Cal (or UCLA,or ND or Vandy). Many come from families that cannot afford college. So taking the opportunity to earn some degree however minimal we believe it to be is good for them. Oh and to play on a tremendous team and get substantial NIL packages is huge for them.

Cal is not for everyone. Neither is Oregon or OSU or WSU. Cal wants the best and brightest top players they can get. But some will not opt in. That is life. It is about choices. Disparaging the player for making a choice we find hard to understand seems a bit silly. But it is their choice to make. And live with the consequences.

2024 president's cup at royal montreal blue: 3rd round morning update

it's absolutely remarkable how much collin morikawa has improved his short game in the last 12 months thru hard work, today's multiple up & downs from bunkers & the rough/fairways has facilitated his ascent to the #4 ranked player in the world...technique wise the most discernible change is collin's increased speed/quick hands on these shots which is creating much greater traction/tremendous spin for stopping the ball on a dime

both max homa & ben an sat out the morning matches, homa will be playing this afternoon

yeah even kat is pumped up for these international matches but where's koa??

collin in foursomes is now teeing off on the odd numbered odds which plays to his strength on the par 3s

max has hit the middle of the clubhead on every shot early in the round & homa has also stopped doing his alex noren 37+ practice swings before every shot which means he's now freed up to play with imagination & not mechanical swing thoughts
