Someone in the know, please clarify incoming players for next year.

1. Originally I heard we had 4 freshman commits for next season but though I read that Cal added one or two later. What is the number? And am I correct that three of those players can pitch well?

2. How many incoming players do we currently have coming through the portal. I believe I heard we had a pitcher coming in, but not sure if we have anyone else coming through the portal.

I believe that the 2025 recruit is only four. There is only one pitcher in the group. She was the CA Soph Pitcher of the Year.

To date, I think that Cal has two transfers: a pitcher from Ohio State & an infielder from Boston College (Emma Jackson)

If one adds soph Miranda De Nava to the incoming freshman plus the soph transfer, a total of three solid pitchers might be available next season.

Guarantee she'll hit 70 points higher at Cal.

Jolene Henderson isn't on Florida Gators coaching staff anymore. Do we still have a coaching position vacant?

I like the 33 walks too. Only Butler had more for us this year. Would need to get the hitting percentage up to be in the lineup though.

Sophia Rolon is a lefty slap hitter that played the outfield for Mater Dei HS-Santa Ana. Her skills are comparable
to Holly Medina.

This girl has crazy movement. One of the more crazy ones I've have seen. Top 3 for sure.

That was impressive. I've never seen movement like that before.
Question for those in the know. Is the rule that the pitcher can throw so long as both feet are still within the circle? Is it OK for the pitcher to hop off the pitching rubber like she is doing?

I noticed that her foot comes off of the ground, too. Is her delivery legal?

Depening on which umpire you get. Some are still geting use to the differenciation between leaping, crow hopping, replanting due to such subtle and subjectiveness. She staddles the pitching lane (barely), throwing motion is almost at the lowest release point when she land. I've seen worse and not called it in the past. I would say legal.

Kaitlyn Terry - Softball - UCLA

This combo LHP/RF has had two sensational seasons as a southpaw pitcher for the Bruins. If Cal could land her, she could carry the team over the top for quality pitching. She was UCLA's 4th best pitcher. She wanted to be a two-way player when she came to Westwood but was not good enough to be a regular. Let her have that opportunity at Cal.

The Bears should make an inquiry since the young lady is from the sister school of Cal and played against our team as a freshman. She would have two seasons of eligibility remaining. Exciting to contemplate! GO BEARS!

Cal softball needs a NIL package to compete for her talent.

I have been saying this forever. Pitching is half the battle. If you need proof, see Texas Tech. This why I was so upset when we lost Roeling. I was advised she was a primadonna. Well, if you know pitchers, 99% of them are prissy and primadonnas. You have to stroke their egos; you cannot treat them like they are regular softball players.

Either Fisher or Terry would be an upgrade for our staff.

True but probably can't afford either. Fisher is from Bend, OR so maybe a Duck or another possible Landry replacement at OU

Also curious at the roster size for 2027. If we only have one senior for next year and six recruits coming in… one more player gets us to the roster cap/max. I wonder how this factors in.

Expect more players hitting portal for $$ or playing time. Coaches have to keep recruiting and getting commits - just hope it all works itself out at the end

Do you mind explaining that a bit? What's to prevent the boosters/friends of the programs hush hush/under the table deals like the pre-collective/NIL days?

The NIL settlement will implement an annual cap that schools can distribute money to its athletes (I believe it's 20. 5 million as the cap)

So, schools will have to decide where to allocate those resources. I imagine most of it will go to football and basketball.

So now, that money will come straight from the athletic department. None of these outside boosters, random Joe Schmo's paying an 18 year old 1 million dollars, etc. That will be no more.
