Any insight on who the new coach may add to his staff. Really need to fix the lack of top notch pitching talent. Looks like Singleton may have the credentials and recruiting prowess to attract those pitchers who can really carry a team on their shoulders.

With all of new coaches, Head and assistant coaches, I feel badly for Rachel Savor and Shelby Miller who was hired by coach Spencer for the 2025-26 season but now they are out of a job. Do we have to pay off their contracts?

Most likely not. Seems like coach Singleton has his 3 new assistant coaches ( Danielle Gibson-Whorton, Chelsea Rex-Singleton and Camille Corona ). Don't believe Danielle will be the pitching coach & unsure about the other 2 back ground). Hope the team can attract the local talents where many of our former players are now coaching in the Bay Area.

Singleton is considered one of the great hitting coaches in all of softball, and well, the numbers speak for themselves. Gibson was a prolific hitter who coached the National Player of the Year this year. So I imagine this team is going to score lots and lots of runs. As always, the question mark will be pitching, as it has been since…well, 2013. I guess Ontiveros, Dung and Conley had flashes of brilliance at times but it hasn't been the same since Jolene graduated.

Looking at Chelsea Rex-Singleton she doesn't seem to have much experience as a pitcher .. as a player or coach. I agree pitching will definitely be a question mark for the team. Glad Clincy is still committed to Cal (hopefully stll) but she is only a freshmen.

To be fair, she does have 9 years of pitching coach experience (since 2016). We'll see what she can do with the staff!

Two questions here. Chelsea Rex-Singleton is the pitching coach but does she possess any bigtime experience? Is she related to Steve?

Underwhelming hire for the pitching coach. This seems to be a step down. I wonder if she will be splitting time between her yoga studio. Her ERA was over 4. There's a big difference between D3 Softball and power 4 conference pitchers. For example, do you want in need to pay athletic scholarships. D3 is forbidden from paying athletic scholarships. I'll be honest this is concerning.

Maybe it was a package deal all along to get Steve to Cal.

What I do know is this: The last two NCAA Players of the Year (Atwood and Ellis) were each coached by members of our new staff.

Oklahoma's staff can't say that. Tennessee's staff can't say that. I'm choosing to give our new staff some grace. I'm extremely bullish.

I agree, but she was not on the Texas staff. I know I do not have to remind you how important a pitching coach is. I thought we had an excellent pitching coach in Deering. This is a bit of a concern going in.
