Watching Arizona's live stream on Instagram, looking like:

400 IM:
Thomas won, Grieshop following in third (looks like a new PB with his 3:41.17 besting his 3:42.02 from last year's NCAA meet).

100 fly:
Jack Xie won the B final, Zheng, Pawel, and Ryan taking 1-2-4 in the A final.

"Sand is probably in with his UGA invite time but another couple tenths would make him safe."

Typically, 28-29 swimmers per event get NCAA invites . By my count, Carson stands 27th going into finals tonight. I will be keeping tabs on the results of Mario Koenigsperger, Hank Poppe ans Danny Comforti as they all currently have slower B times, but could snatch Carson's invite with faster times.

Really nice to Karl Arvidsson back up his 200 time with an A final in the 100. Hope he can keep swimming fast through NCAAs but he must be one of the guys on full taper, judging by his results.

You're right, I neglected to take into account the last chance qualifiers. Sand is not in great position now. He's already burned his time trial, but could use the 200 or the Sunday last chance meet. Song time trialed the 200 back but only went 1:42.5. Biondi did the 100 free and went 42.98great swim and big drop but won't make it on its own.

What do you mean no tomorrow? Why would he not swim NCAAs?

I was just merely agreeing with you that this was his chance to get to the NCAA championship, so he had to be full taper for the Pac 12 meet.

Sand looks to be 29th having been passed by Koenigsperger and Poppe, so maybe on the wrong side of the bubble. Carson was one of the top ten returners in the 100 breast from last year's NCAAs, but this has been a year with a number of very fast freshmen breaststrokers: Whitley, McHugh, Scheinfeld and Zane Backes to mention just a few. I have no idea whether the coaches gambled on Sand qualifying with a limited taper, but he wasn't going to be in NCAA scoring range without a hefty drop in time from his season best.

Wasn't sure what you meant by your original comment re Karl, but I do now. I would enjoy knowing in more detail the level of taper for individual swimmers for Pac 12s. My WAGs:

No rest: Seli, Whitley, Sendyk, Carr, Quah, Grieshop ?, Norman, Jensen, Mefford and Thomas

minor taper: Hoffer, Julian, Sand ?

full taper: Arviddson, Biondi, Tako, Song, Young, Jhong, Xie et al.

Yeah not sure what happened with Sand there in the 200. Hopefully just saving it up for one more big 100 swim. Song's not going to make it, but Young could still time trial the 100 back I think. Glad Jhong looks to be swimming the 1650, I think that might end up being a strong event for him.

Heck of a show on the final night for the Bears, placing first in all 5 individual events (making it 10 of 13 for the meet) and winning the 400 free relay, making a clean 5 for 5 sweep in relays. Durden is quoted as saying he told the guys they had to keep pace with the women. Pretty funny.

    Seli deservedly won swimmer of the meet as he finished as the all-time leading event winner in Pac 12 history. Other notable performances;

1 Pawel won both the 50 and 100 free sprints and finished 2nd in the 100 fly. He is nicely ahead of last year's pace.

2 Zheng Quah also swept the fly events and made the A final in the 100 back, but since he finished 16th at NCAAs last year in the 200 IM as his 3rd event , inclined to believe his line-up will be 200IM, 100 and 200 fly in Austin.

3 Mefford sporting a beard had a nice win in the 200 back, after placing 5th in the 100 back last night. Will he swim the 100 back instead of the 200 free at NCaas, where he was an A finalist last year?

4 Great to see Karl Arviddson secure an invite, as well as Carson Sand using a swift first half of his 200 breast to secure his. Both could score critical points in 3 weeks.

5 Congrats to Mike Thomas getting his first Pac 12 individual win in his final Pac 12s.

Fantastic performances executed flawlessly across the board. I was suprised that the point total with Stanford was as close as it turned out. Stanford did not win many events. They had good depth in some events but were quite weak in some others. The NCAAs should be exciting! GO BEARS!

In 100 race, Ryan Hoffer looked like he ran out of oxygen. His last 25 looked really painful. Don't know if he made a mistake or if he had stayed underwater too long for the first 75.

Based on usa_swimming's current ranking (which already includes Pac12 last chance), 14 bears get invite. Although the team is smaller than last year, all of them should score.

Others are ranked 33rd (Young) or lower. That's too bad as they are all within a couple of tenths to reach ncaa.

Will be impossible to replace Seli, but Durden's cupboard is not remotely bare. Barring injuries, Young, Biondi, Song, Xie, and Jhong should all make it next year. Pawel, Reece, Jensen, Grieshop, Hoffer, and Mefford are already very good and should all be even better next season. Julian and Arvidsson are coming up fast. Despite losing a stellar senior class, the pipeline is full and won't be a huge drop off.
