Aaron blasted the vaccine mandate on the Pat McAfee radio show today. Said that every person should have control over his/her own body. Glad to see Aaron push back against the woke crowd!

Cal fans, how about deez nuts?
The difference between a right wing conspiracy and the truth is about 20 months.

I agree with his pushback. But I am concerned about what he told the team about what he was doing. There is a certain protocol players are supposed to do in reporting, and I just hope he followed the correct protocols. But I'm glad to see him stand up as he has done. I hope others will do so as well.

He can have any opinion he wants. What rubs me the wrong way is how intentionally deceptive he was. Even if I strongly disagree with him, at least Kyrie is up front about his choice and rationale.

I think Aaron should use his considerable influence to get UC Berkeley to give Joe Rogan an honorary degree and, perhaps, rename Cal's Memorial Stadium after Rogan.

Rogan California Memorial Stadium has a nice ring to it.

That would be a great way for Rodgers and the people ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY to thumb their noses at the Woke scientists who work at UC Berkeley.

Wow, excellent point!
A lot of people who don't want society controlling their bodies don't mind religion controlling women's bodies. What a bunch of ****n hypocrites. But, interestingly, many of these hypocrites have no shame and don't seem to mind being hypocrites because they continue to be hypocritical in so much of what they say and do.

McAfee and Rogers have been talking S*** in their echo chamber for quite some time now. It seems that Rogers has found a friend who supports his grudges.

What neither realize is that most people have virtually no respect for or interest in what goes through their minds.

Because Rogers is a famous and talented Cal alum and professional athlete, he probably thinks he's got some traction with the public.

But it's more likely that folks will use what he says as traction to lessen their appreciation for his athleticism rather taking their appreciation of his athleticism as leverage to respect what he says.

Yup, Rodgers won. He'll miss 2 games but he's a winner in my book for being an individual.

I'm not going to be seeking out Rogers for pointers about how to be an "individual", whatever that is supposed to mean. If he's following what Qu-Anon is spewing, he's not an individual, he's a brainwashed cult follower.

Maybe this is why he identified as a Butte CC alum more than a Cal alum.

If that's the case they can have him.

Why do you think 30 guys on our team have covid oh ya maybe because this "vaccine" only protects you until you get on your 3-5 month subscription model of antibodies. Unlike any science ever prescribed to the public - yet people are somehow idiots for not bowing down to non long term studied mRNA based therapies. I got the dose dude. I'm a science guy. Lying doesn't help anyone. There's no source of truth. How do people navigate anything without a source of truth. Jesus Christ lol. Go bears tho. Good for Aaron for thinking on his own right or wrong unlike the rest of us pawns

After a huge spike in COVID in August following the Olympics with over 25,000 new cases per day, Japan has now nearly eliminated COVID with high vaccination rates and near universal mask wearing. It can be done.

What some of you are forgetting is that Rodger's choice does not affect him alone. Rather, by remaining unvaccinated he is increasing the risk that he will spread the disease to other people (such as his teammates). That's why the NFL is justified in mandating vaccination. He is not just being deceptive, bad as that is; he is also posing a risk to others. A Cal alum should know better.

(1) McAfee and Rogers have been talking S*** in their echo chamber for quite some time now. It seems that Rogers has found a friend who supports his grudges.

(2) What neither realize is that most people have virtually no respect for or interest in what goes through their minds.

(3) Because Rogers is a famous and talented Cal alum and professional athlete, he probably thinks he's got some traction with the public.

(4) But it's more likely that folks will use what he says as traction to lessen their appreciation for his athleticism rather taking their appreciation of his athleticism as leverage to respect what he says.
HOTB,

You've captured most of my thoughts/feelings about AR.

I've inserted the numbers in bold.

(1) I've seen AR talking "shiite" on the PMS a few times. McAfee is a decent entertainer......in small doses.
To some, his endeavors in professional wrestling show that. He is certainly no mental giant.
A "friend", I guess. There are times I expect PM to jump into the feed and give AR a "friendly" hug.

(2) I used to respect AR as a person.....whatever that means. But I've slowly come to realize that....
if not from his CAL-ties.....I would see him as a major prima donna.

(3) I have trouble nailing down the word "alum". So, I'll say....I guess he's an alum, but he certainly
doesn't have a CAL degree. He is very intelligent nonetheless. I agree that, as you say, "he probably thinks, etc."

(4) This latest fiasco (using MLK...give me an effin break) has very much lessened my thoughts about him as a QB.

Thanks.....

GO BEARS!!!! whoever is in Tucson will give it everything they have and beat the 'Cats.

Yup. I think Kyrie is making a bad choice too, but at least he's been honest about it. I have more respect for a guy like that. He doesn't like the rules, so he sits out.

Rodgers wanted to have his cake and eat it too. Not get vaccinated but act like he was. If he really believed in his cause he wouldn't lie about it.

Rodgers and Rolovitch are very similar in that they lie and deflect until they get caught. They aren't taking a stand, they are total cowards. It is easy to have crazy beliefs when you stay in an echo chamber of like minded fools. Rogers is an embarrassment as a public figure. Listen to that interview--yikes--what an abject narcissist and moron!

TOTAL B.S. Aaron is right in acknowledging what you do with your own body is your own decision. But in the case of abortion there is another body at play here. It is not my intention to hijack this thread, so if you want to debate me, do it in another abortion specific thread at the appropriate place (off topic). But the ignorance of that statement had to be countered.

Exactly. I may not care if you smoke pot and drink a six pack of beer every night but I care if you do so while pregnant. I suspect most would feel that way.

I don't support the mandates but his "alternative medicine" theories are straight-up crazytown.

He has as much right as everyone else to debate public policy (and there's been plenty of dumb, heavy-handed measures these past two years to discuss), but when it comes to medical advice, it's another example of "shut up and play the game."

Agree with you on the crazytown comment on alternative medicine. However, he is not spreading medical advice, but is instead responding to non-scientists like all those Twitter posters shaming him with equally uninformed medical advice. Most of these uniformed people have jobs unrelated to being a doctor or virologist. Maybe we should tell all non-doctors tweeting on this topic to just shut up and do their actual job as well.

Not to keep this ball in the air, but I do miss the days of respectful, passionate discussion on issues like this, instead of the inane COVID discussions. I realize the latter is because a lot of people can't get away from the effects of the heavy-handed policies, but there is no doubt two years of lockdowns and social restrictions has made everyone - including our Cal community - really stupid and antisocial. Millions of people really do need to "get a life." It's pretty bad.

It was a stupid response by Rodgers to a question the journalist had no right asking.
